I must confess that I don't think I have a shy bone in me anymore. I overcame a sense of shyness during my 6th form in high school and I think what helped is my developing a sense of confidence in myself. Of course this strategy alone won't work overnight but it slowly develops over time.

Well, if you can smell fear, you could probably smell shy too... ;)

Almost every human gives off instantaneous clues as to their mood, attitude and emotions. These cues are often dead giveaways despite what the person is telling you.

Its detecting these clues that requires a great deal of, patience, observation and some training.

For me, eye contact, body language and the stress in someones voice is something that I look at keenly. I am not good at it yet however.

Hint: Women are the ones that exhibit voice stress most easily.

As for smell there are occasions that one can detect a slight... scent... but since I am no dog, (I am a coyote thats likes to make inventions) I am not keen on that. Anyway the scent comes about because a person under stress (from fear/anxiety etc) sweats more and certain reactionary hormones released into the blood stream come out in sweat.

Thanks to the advent of perfumed soaps, deoderant and colonges, these aromatic clues are not easily detected by us humans... but a DOG is still very keen to it.

I heard some time ago that most wild birds fly away from humans because we smell like carnivours :rolleyes:

ROF good one. He is somewhat right, but not all shyness is linked to Low selfesteem. Some people may just be so introvert, opening up to casual conversations takes them out of their comfort zone and they avoid that, at all costs.
