How many guys here lift weights regularly and how much can you
Benchpress
Curl
Squat
I can benchpress 200 lbs. I curl 50 pounds and i havent squatted becuz my back started to hurt me but last time it was 200 lbs.
Ma peeps telling me its unhealthy to be benchpressing so much at such a young age so i have decided to do lots of repitions. But i sitll do it occasionally to make sure i dont lose that strength

It's not unhealthy. Just make sure you're not straining your muscles or any part of you. That's when it becaomes dangerous.
I used to benchpress when I was in high school with the manning cup team.
I think it was close to 100 pounds I was doing.
But to be pressing that much, you must be really fit Skillachi.
How long you been working out?
I used to lift weights, trying to get my arms to be not so skinny but it did not work.Ok it was only 50lbs................stop laughting at me :icon_redf
I lift weights, I do body building not weight lifting.

Actually i am not fit at all next to the fact that i play basketball on Saturdays. I am overweight and i need to do something about it and i decided that weights could help to turn the body fat to muscles. I started lifting weights last year october wen i was training to throw shotput for wolmers. I was benchpressing 90 pounds at the end of that year and was embarrased wen the coach came in and put me under 150 pounds and i couldnt lift it which was wat the sprinters were lifting and if me as a thrower who is supposed to be stronger couldnt do it then it made no sense.
So over the christmas i got weights from my cousin and began lifting like a madman by january i could benchpress 160. by easter i could benchpress 200 pounds. I havent lifted in a month though becuz my brother (and lifting partner) wasnt here so... i got weaker again and was having a little trouble benchpressing 150 saturday gone but i plan to work my way back up there again. I feel no strain from my muscles as i wouldve stopped along time ago if i was becuz i am sincerely afraid of things like that to happen to me. Which is why i stopped squatting.
I am basically doing wat dev is doing now and that is body building. So i do like 3 sets of repitions with 120 pounds and i do 1 set of 180 to make sure i keep my strength but build muscle
You can't turn fat into muscle Skilli,
To Burn Fat - High Repetitions with Lighter or No Weights Being Used. (Aerobic exercises also help in fat burning)
To Build Muscle - Low Reps with Heavier Weights
Follow those principles and you can't loose.

i think u mean fat into muscle dev... or whichever way. I have learned those things though and i have been doing high repitions with lighter weights to build my muscles. But as i said before to keep my strength im still doing 1 set of 180

my mother has like two 3 pound weights but i know that its not much but it is strength training, (more repetitiions with lighter weights= strength) but as for the building, i don't focus om my upper body, i just lie down and put my heavy text books on the soles of my feetand push upwards. (rock hard gluteous maximus).

I usually try to do 100 diamond push ups. Have to split it into 5 sets though.
100 sit ups, split into 2 sets or some form of scissors exercise lieing on back with legs in air. Kind of like apart together. do those on a 4 count. i.e 1-2-1-1, 1-2-1-2, 1-2-1-3. I do 50 ,of those which actually works out to a hundred cuz i'm doubling up the count.
I need to get back in my regular routine though, i keep dropping the routine after 3 or two weeks. Need to be tenacious. Need to get solid, cant bother with the rippling stuff, just want to be tough!

A great way to eliminate stretch marks associated with Weight lifting is Vitamin E caps, jus squeeze and rub in or olive oil. Stretch marks are kinda unsightly on both men and women.

Yes, because as the muscle expands so does the overlying skin.

OK Wastey,
I just watched a video with Ronnie Coleman (7 times Mr. Universe) and he squated 700+ lbs using a special suit. Are you anywhere near Coleman's weight? Do you have a special suit?
I'll believe that you can squat 700 lbs when I see you do it!
Manu
June 16, 2008, 11:58 PM
Are you saying the suit is a prerequisite? Whether he can or not is of no importance really.
CyberCat
June 17, 2008, 10:51 AM
I'm saying that Coleman is HUGE. Wastey doesn't look to be half his size.
The suit looks to be maybe impregnated with kevlar. It is for extra back support. He sure needs it for that kind of weight.
Manu
June 17, 2008, 03:12 PM
Doesn't have to free weights. Could be a machine.

June 18, 2008, 01:18 PM
Still don't believe it.
WasteLandSoldier4Lyfe
June 19, 2008, 07:18 PM
Cyber Cat a suit doesnt have to do anything with lifting, just because he's big doesnt mean that he can lift alot, when it comes to lifting size doesnt matter but technique does its the most important thing when it comes to lifting, it took me 3 years of hard training to free squat 700
