I don't really consider myself to be picky, but I do want to be treated right. He doesn't have to wine and dine me .... if he does the little things, like call me and tell me that he's thinking of me, that just makes me turn to mush. I'm a sensitive person and so, I need a sensitive man. If a man is sensitive, he has my heart, because that is so rare to find.
I'm also attracted to intelligence. I want a man that reads the newspaper and knows what's going on in the world. If he has a good relationship with his family, that's another bonus. I'm at an age where personality and treatment is much more important than looks. I use to only want to date men that were Christian, but I've found out the hard way that that means absolutely nothing. And this is based on my experiences.

good charolete have a nice song and i quote "girls don't like boys, girls like cars n money." may i recommend listening to that song.
ok, on a more serious note, you can't really say what girls look for in a guy cause every girl is gonna say something different. some might want a really nice guy, some might want a tuff guy, some might want a rich guy, some might want one thats good in the bed even though almost every woman will fall under that last category. but you see what i'm saying.
but if you want to sum it all up, most women just want a guy that will treat them well.

In my opinion, the little things that guys do are very important to me. I don't really care about the "big" things. I agree with Mocha Chic, but I don't want a man who is tooo sensitive ;) :).

Women want a man that is respectful, honest and loyal. A woman wants a man to be just that, her man and not act like some child. Leave the male chauvinism behind and treat your woman as an EQUAL. MEN listen up..... a woman does not want a man to DOMINATE her!!! Also very important we(women) want a man that is educated can hold up an intelligent conversation and can speak articulately. Nothing wrong with the patois when you are among family and friends but learn to speak properly as well.

It is all the time that we can differentiate between the good guys and the bad guys, then there are other times when you tell straight off the bat. What do we do then, I guess we pick ourselves up, dust off dirt and move on. It's as simple as that. Cause if we start saying and asking questions like "why me" or "mi should a know" we will never move from that point.
It's like getting a car to move, without gas, key, parts
etc., it will never move from where we park it. :eusa_whis

:eusa_eh: You have to be able to love yourself before you can love anyone else. Its quite okay to have a preference for lighter skin men or 'brownings', but to base it on the fact that you are darker skin, implies that something is wrong with being darker skin.

As for me, a man (who I would consider as husband material) has to be:
honest (If I cant trust you I wont be with you)
hardworking
determined to get somewhere in life, and actively pursuing that
lives healthy, no smoking, no drinking or light social drinking, no drugs
he has to be fit physically (I love abs) and an active person, not a couch potato
I would really prefer if he was 6'3 minimum, but there are always exceptions
Can cook, beacause i dont intend to be in the kitchen 24/7
Loves to travel and see new places
Has a spiritual side to him
Has a sensitive side to him
Is great in bed (Good sex is not superficial in anyway)
Goodlooking, dont care the skin complexion (dark to light is fine with me, just control the acne :))
These are in no particular order by the way.

You guys have a remarkable talent for drifting off-topic. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y142/xenocrates/Smilies/nope.gif
...and I know who's fault it is. Anywayz... In relation to the question that started the thread, it depends on the age of the girl you ask.
Young women can be so fickle. I prefer to wait until a woman hits 24 - 25 before I ask her what she looks for in a guy. Otherwise you hear all kinds of nonsense. Much of it driven by innate desires relative to the mood she's in at the instant she was asked. Ask her next week and it's a different story. Maybe that's why I prefer certain types of women - AngelsKiss knows what I mean. ;)
Younger girls have too much of that tenacity to have a "flavour of the week". It's so annoying. It's like the synapses in their brain haven't finished bonding since they were 2 years old. It's better to see if she likes you than to ask what she wants - esp if she's fairly young. Most young girls have asbsolutely no idea what they want - in men or otherwise. You guys would be better off asking more seasoned, mature women that question - at least until the young girls make up their minds. ;)

So should women under 25 be considered brain dead or something. Humans in general are dynamic creatures, and our experiences which often change and increase with age, shape our preferences and standards particularly when it comes to choosing a mate or companion. To ask a 19 year old what she wants in a man, albeit it may sometimes be superficial, it is as genuine as her current experience. Ten years later she may want something completely different, and ten years after that something else. To ask a 35 year old the same question, one more than likely will get a completely different response. Once again it is all shaped by experiences, and that is what years on this earth bring.
As well age does not often correlate with maturity.
But women in general are moody, cheerful one day, and the next they have PMS and a gun. We are controlled by a myriad of hormones, what can I say.
Dont underestimate we young folk,we know alot more than people would like to give us credit for.

Lord help us, Xeno why did you have to go open pandora's box?:)
Actually you are right that humans are dynamic, and I also have to say that many of the younger folkes are less mature, it's not just women. I think what it boils down to is preference and I think for Xeno and some young men they prefer older women, so you younger folkes don't get too upset :D

- I agree with you 100%. But, I find it dreadfully annoying when a woman changes her mind every 5 minutes. It's one of my pet peeves *adds it to volume 3 list*. I prefer when a woman knows exactly what she's about. I'm not exactly expecting that at age 15. But by age 21 you should have a clue. At least, I think so. Then again, there are those who are too high on life to think straight. I don't mind a lass being high on life. But I prefer if she had some sense of direction as well. Usually, that includes knowing what kinda guys she likes. Girls like that remind me of Paris Hilton - and Paris Hilton doesn't sit well with me. Yu zimi?
:icon_arro Cocoa
- Wut you worrying bout? 25 is not an approximation. Some girls mature faster than others. It's relative to your upbringing. I wouldn't figure you to be someone under 25 still.... that's interesting to know. :icon_mrgr

Can someone explain to the naive French gyal what back dimples are, pliz?
Anyway, I'd like my man to be:
-taller than me, that would be really nice and 'twould prevent some embarrassing moments
-smart enough to have a good sense of humour and to have serious, funny, weird, crazy conv with me :)
-able to stand for his opinions
-has to know where he wants to go, even if the path seems tough
- open minded
-nice
-respectuous
-caring
-loving
-a good dancer, ;) I don't know if all girls believe that but dancing for me is a hint for other things
-able to boost, support, calm, protect me
-able to surprise me
-music lover and a nice smile. :icon_mrgr like this one
That's what I look for in a man, as for his physical look I don't really care providing that he respects the basic rules of hygiene of course, he can have dread locks, a shiny bald head.....he can have earrings, necklaces.... piercings, tattoos but not too many. As long as he knows their importance and their meaning, the reasons why he did it...even if I don't like them I think that they are part of him and make him the man I love, my man.
:) Does any of you know that kind of guy? If so my phone number is 06......

What I look for in a male?
~someone who believes in God, if not a christian
~someone with good communication skills, basically, capable of carrying on an intelligent conversation.
~someone who is mature and ambitious. He knows where he is going, who he is and what he needs to do to get there.
~someone who is preferably taller than I am but not a requirement.
~he must be good to look at at least, if not handsome.
~someone who is caring, loving, gentle and not a buttu.
~ I do like someone with a sense of humor that can have me laughing even at the smallest things.
~ I also like someone who doesn't smoke, or drink alot.
~someone who is heterosexual.
~I also perfer someone who is good with money and not a spend drift.
~ I admire a praying man and one who worships God.
If I think of anything else, I'll come back.

then again:
As long as u dont look weed out...thas a plus for me.
As long as you dont approach me with "pssst...baby u fat enuh"
As long as you dont have cavities (fillings are ok- it shows u cared enuf to fix the problem) and bad teeth or breath
As long as you not a drug dealer...
As long as you're a Christian (i mean if ure heart TRULY follows Christ then all the personality traits will fall in place)
That last one is the most important to me
