The problem lies in that a lot of the ppl who post here also post on the on the Tech Jamaica website. Maybe you could transfer the OT thread here and provide a link at the TJ website that takes them here.

Thanks Angelskiss. That was actually an initial consideration and hope that members would "transfer" the OT discussions here, but alas that has not happened. I guess that they're too comfortable at TechJamaica ;) This is why we need "fresh blood" in here - members who aren't really into tech.

As Greatis said, I hope you don't mean tenament yard in the real sense of the definition ;) But I see your point though, advertising would bring nuff people till we toppling over each other.

Unfortunately advertising costs money so it has to be done with strategy. My approach is to exhaust all free promo options first to bring some and the we can take it to the next level.

Just a reminder to all, that the best form of advertising is word of mouth so when people visit and they see discussions that grab them and encourge them to join and in turn tell others. So spread the word and post away! :D

Yeah it must be. It was 133 before. But why is Caribyard getting so much attention from them?

I don't know. Usually when you have google ads on your site, a special google bot visits your site frequently. Almost everytime someone visits the site, it calls up the google ads which requests the bot to visit the site. (I am guessing) Because everytime I come here, there is at least 1 google bot here.

Then add to that, the regular google search bot, that indexes the site.

I don't have google ads on my site, but on January 1, it made my highest number of users online. That's when more than 1 google bot indexed my site. Since I never have that many users online at one time.

I never thought we wpuld make 1000 before the year was out. In any event, it's not just about how many ppl we have, but how many actually begin to post once they sign up. It's usually the same group of ppl posting.

This site was started in April 2004. Goods news is we now have 386 members and will most likely reach 400 at the end of January. From the statistics, it appears that the most active Caribyardie is DREW. Drew joined Spetember 5th, 2004 and he now has 1,161 posts at a rate of 8.88 posts per day. CONGRATS ;)

Ok so the site has 386 members and most of these persons are yet to make a post. This is a normal pattern noticed in forums and MSN groups. I'd bet if we had 10,000 members, we'd have roughly 100 active users which would seem like a lot of pals ;)
