I was watching a program the other day and the guys was recommending that we need to eat more fish, which we already know I'm sure. Interesting though was that he was recommending that we eat more sea/salt-water fish rather than pond-bred fish because the pond/fresh-water fish contained over 10 times the amout of PCB's (?) than the sea fish. This is interesting because I'm sure that I've heard it suggested that pond fish was better/healthier because the sea fish contained mercury.
What's your take on all this?

PCB - Any of a family of industrial compounds produced by chlorination of biphenyl, noted primarily as an environmental pollutant that accumulates in animal tissue with resultant pathogenic and teratogenic effects.
(not even i understand that definition... all i saw was pollutant)
Wat i wanted to add though there is no problem with eating Sea Fish this is just another ploy by america to move the product to pond fish. Its the same thing that happened with coconut oil and also with the noni - soy switch soon u will be hearing that soy is bad for u again it always happens.
The level of mercury in sea fish will not even make your body sneeze (unless u choke on the pepper or a bone) and there have been many stories around of people eating sea fish raw and surviving for many years if there was a big problem wid sea fish nuff ppl woulda dead long time

Thanks for the definition of PCB Skillachi, all I saw was "pollutants" as well ;)

You're right on this. I recall seeing a program looking at the eating habits of Asians, specifically the Japanese, because they tend to have a high fish content diet. The study tried to explore the link between their diet and their longevity and lower obesity rate. Of course the longecity of the Japanese has decreased because they are now one of the largest consumers of cigarettes ... but that's for another discussion ;)
