View Full Version : Don't finish the sentence!

The idea of this game is to add one word at a time to the sentence, without finishing the sentence. Anyone can challenge an entry, and the entry is suuccessful if a full stop (period) can be added to make a gramatically correct sentence.

For example, I post "I". Then the second person posts "read". this can then be challenged, as "I read." is a sentence. Whereas if the second poster played "often" there could be no challenge, as "I often" is not a complete sentence.

Okay, here goes:

Once

(please copy & paste each time, so that the complete phrase appears on each post)

Perfect! Others may contribute too. The sentence may seem nonsensical at times depending on input, but not to worry, that's part of the fun!

As an example, this is the sentence currently being added to on chessworld:

Two days ago, as Greta left the office, feeling a little on the airy side and looking forward eagerly to being in exquisitely or otherwise perfectly rapturous attire, a young but reliable yet not quite trustworthy, respectable or proper vicar asked Greta whether she enjoyed his many interesting

Once upon a time Noah and his crew sang when gazing at animals that shined in the flood ravaged lands around the hemisphere.

can be construed as a complete sentence. Anyone agree?

But ramesh, can you get these complete sentences out of it also?

- Once upon a time Noah and his crew sang. (well might not be a complete sentence)
- Once upon a time Noah and his crew sang when gazing at animals.
- Once upon a time Noah and his crew sang when gazing at animals that shined in the flood ravaged lands.

So why challenge now when you could have challenged before? In fact, there would be many more times when a sentence can come to a close.

Maybe I'm seeing it wrong.

No, you are quite right - those could have been challenged. The thing is, I missed those and so did everyone else. I have to take more care next time. Since the sentence has been made (from any one of those spots), we'll have to start another one. Anyone want to start us off? :)
