View Full Version : Conditions to be Banned

I've noticed that a member of this forum has been banned. Is it because Caribyard isn't a match.com where singles can meet and fall in love  What condition did this member violate

If I'm thinking of the same individual that you are, they have been temporarily banned simply for their behaviour in certain posts they made and not because CY is not a "match.com". Simply put - they were rude and abusive to other members including a moderator. You will not see the particular posts because they have been removed for obvious reasons. We simply will not tolerate any behaviour that is considered abusive or disruptive.

Ohh so while I take a vacation from CY, all sort of suspicious activities taking place. I was looking at the member's recent posts (since this member wasn't here for sometime) and I cannot find a reason to justify the banned action. Since some of the posts were removed, that provides the explanation. Even our young friend, tradag seem not to like this member.
BTW: Chris, in all forums I've ever came across, Caribyard site appears to be the strickest of them all. I've seen other forums were members attack other member's intregity. (One member even said that the other member abuse women :icon_eek: and no action was taken by the moderators)

Members aren't banned because they are disliked, liked or in-between. They're banned for specific activities that are generally considered as "disruptive".BTW: Chris, in all forums I've ever came across, Caribyard site appears to be the strickest of them all.Yes, to an extent I agree. So in your opinion is that good or bad?

So in your opinion is that good or bad?
Variety is the spice of life. There are forums to cater to various tastes. If someone finds a particular forum not to their liking, they're free to chose another. In some of the more liberal forums, some people find participation daunting, since not everyone there has self control, and there may be no restrictions which prevent them from becoming abusive to members. Inevitably, some people will like a particular forum while others won't.

It's a good one since it preserves the integrity of Caribyard. Members will respect each other's opinions without getting personal. In turn, respect will be demonstrated to persons (outside of CY) in a proper manner. Destroying one's character and disrespect to others shouldn't be allowed under no circumstance.
BAD one in a sense that this is the internet and it can be considered a "FREE country". Plus communism is falling and democracy is on the rise if you understand what I mean

That has been said and used too many times by people who want to do thier own thing and have thier own way, anywhere on the net and not be penalized for doing it.
This site has an agreement that you agree to when you register. Basically saying if you break the agreement your rights here will be restricted.
You can't come into a man yard (in this case, his site), do what you want and then tell the man is a free internet so you can do what you want to do.
A man cannot deface a guys website, put his own personal message and tell the guy is a free internet.
When you take part in a community you are usually bound to an agreement that you agreed to upon registration, that puts limits in your rights on the site.

Freedom they say comes with a price...in this case it's respect. Some of us think that freedom should mean we do and say as we please never minding the effect it has on others.
It's sad that we can't treat freedom with the respect it deserves...ie...respect for ourselves and others. I am glad CaribYard is not like other forums because it would mean I would have to take a permanent hike :)
Disclaimer - this is not targeting anyone specifically, just my take on how I see freedom.

Their posts remain, and thier title changes to Banned.
You cannot log into the account once you're banned. You have to access the forum as an unregistered user.

The period they're banned for is at the descretion of the Supermod or Admin. It all depends on whether it's a first offence etc. Some people maybe banned for life others for certain periods.
Manu
May 17, 2005, 01:50 AM
Are the periods fixed or just whatever them feel to ban you for? I expect that you guys would warn a person before right....no matter the severity of their first offence!
Chris
May 17, 2005, 08:21 AM
Most of this discussion has nothing to do with experiences here at CY, rather they're from experiences in another forum. As a matter of fact there isn't anyone who's banned here at this point in time.I expect that you guys would warn a person before right....no matter the severity of their first offence! Not necessarily, sometimes their first offence was bad enough to be their last.

so what could possibly be so bad so that an administator or a moderator ban that particular person permanently?

You can't possibly think of at least 1?
I'll give 1 for example: A user will join up, post 10's of posts advertising a product or it just be filled with uselessness. Obviously there intent is to spam and disrupt the forum and not participate, hence we will ban them permanently for that.
That's just 1 out of many other scenarios.

Ok so Caribyard is against persons doing ads in their forum while at the same time it's the same caribyard that wants current users to do free ads (on other sites) and any other means to expose the site.
Is that by all accounts...FAIR :icon_ques :eusa_snoo

Well, we won't condone that you spam another forum advertising CaribYard. It would look bad on us. I'm sure you can find ways of inviting others without breaking any rules. ;)

If it the same member I'm thinking about then that member last visited or signed in a couple days ago. In fact, that member admitted that they no longer wish to take part in the discussions. Something about demoracy was mentioned.

People often claim "lack of democracy" when it's actually their lack of responsibility within a democratic society that's the problem ;)

I don't think that [Name withheld] is ashamed to post. [Name Withheld] made it quite clear that he/she doesn't wish to take part in any of the discussions albeit due to caribyard's strong posting policies. I think that our young 15 yr old member no longer wishes to take part in CY discussions because of what [Name Withehld] did to him as far as I understand.
