What do you guys think about the incident of the five year old girl that was handcuffed after throwing a tantrum with school officials in Florida. Was it called for, or higly inappropriate given the childs age? Just a note when I was a child if I had acted up like that I would have gotten a serious *** cutting in front of everyone, and my mother may have well called the police to scare the crap out of me, in case I planned on acting up again, ah West Indian parenting!
Here is a link to the story and the video:

Childs age? Kids are blowing thier friends heads off with shot-guns in schools in the US. I don't blame them.
But the teacher looked like she couldn't handle the child. If that was in jamaica, girl would get a piece a beating. Knowing the US though, the teacher and the school would get sued for beating the child.
So really, there is no way out.

a 5 year old is a baby!!!!! No need for handcuffs....use some other alternative on the BABY!!!! :(
Students throwing tandrums in school can sometimes be difficult to deal with. As a teaching in training myself, I have witnessed that and thought it was crazy cause a I would love to throw on a good slap on him/her. There are ways here that we can deal with things but not HANDCUFFING a 5 year old BABY...that is a child man.
They could have had the child in "time-out t" as they call it. If she is a Special Ed teacher, she knows she can call for help and they would take care of the matter. The handcuff thing was not called for.

People say the same things about 15 year olds. Still a child. But they kill like adults don't they?
I'm just saying, not all 5 year olds are the same as a 5 year old that you're used to. Some of thier state of mind depends on how they were raised. You can't judge how to treat someone just soley on thier age.
How would you guys treat the situation if you were the teacher/principal? Would you hold down the child until she calmed down? Lock her in a room till she calmed down? What if she never does?
What would you do?

It's no big deal that handcuffing may just teach that child a lesson again. America is one crappy place, Can you imagine the police are going to get sued and maybe even the school.

The handcuffing of that 5 year old girl was a reflection of how the authority of parents and teachers have disintegrated in America. The authority has shifted, and parents are being arrested, sued and divorced for disciplining their own kids. People often dont give kids the credit they deserve. That little girl was probably quite congnisant of the fact that she was acting out and being a piss tailed little brat, and that her teachers could not do a damn thing physically to subdue her.
From the video she seemed acustomed to acting out like that, probably beacuse her parents are too soft or too scared to put her in her place. I think it is better that she be arrested at five years old, because the law cannot send her to jail. It would be a totally different scenario if she was 17 and got arrested , she would be sitting in a jail cell probably.

LoL. Held the kids hands? I'm sure that thought didn't come into thier minds at all. ;)
But seriously now, I think the school could have done a little bit more to contain the student. I mean she wasn't being a physical threat to anyone. She didn't have a grenade, or automatic weapon or a bomb tied to her chest. Just lock her up in a room or something let her chill out.
And let her stay there until her mother can come for her.
But you have to see, it was a black kid so maybe they got a bit scared.
