West Indies star batsman Brian Lara has returned to the top of the LG ICC Test batting rankings following his first innings score of 176 in the third Test between West Indies and South Africa, despite being on the losing side.

it is true that brian is the #1 batsman,but in order to gain success the WI needs to work as a team and not leave it all on lara. they might feel jealous that lara is getting all the spotlight and so not give of their best, but they are stupid because they are just pushing him more in the spotlight by letting him do all the work.

That's been the age old problem. Lara has to carry the brunt of the batting and if he fails the side fails. Rubbish.

Poor Lara! Him alone a carry the burden....well him and Chanderpaul and Gayle. When none a dem no have a good game the team sink. I'm happy for him though :eusa_danc :eusa_danc :eusa_clap .

funny how people say lara lacks consistency. Compare Lara to all the other great batsmen. Sir Don Bradman he had a damn good batting lineup with him. Sunil Gavaskar should I continue. Sachin Tendulkar has a better side than Lara, and we complain about the mans consistency if the man didn't have to worry about scoring runs quickly or most of the strike etc he would have been more consistent.
Well don't blame the man so much the only West Indians with a higher average than the man are those who played with better batting line ups than him and guess what they have all stopped playing cricket.

True, but in my opinion, he is the most reliable WI player right now :)
