I don't know how that driver didn't get shot. With all the bullet holes in the driver side...let alone miss him and not hit one passenger????? He also could dodge bullets and manuever the vehicle to safety? That defies physics. And then some people don't believe in God? Bwoy a tell yu.....!!!!

The odd thing is, most robberies and hold ups seem to involve cell phones. A week or so ago, gunmen held up a "Country bus". They demanded everyone give up their cell phones. Why would anyone hold up a country bus and a school bus? For cell phones?

As I said before, they are just darn wicked and thief. I wish the juducial system was much better in Jamaica. There is so much that I think could be done to stem the flow of crime and violence. Sometime I wish I was the Prime Minister, because I know exactly what I would do, only they would get rid of me before I could do it. Too much nonsense going on in, too many corrupt leaders too.

This is so true, Jamaica is the only place where you can do these things and get away with it, the leaders need to do something man

Sad, Sad situation, but thank God no one was hurt. With all the crime in Jamaica, is the death penalty still on the books and enforced? Not that it is the most efficient deterrent to crime, but I know many people who leave others well alone, just at the thought of the hangman's noose.

you know what Jamaica's biggest problem, if one party decides to do something the other goes against them. To me that is stupid it is like one big game to them, it is as if they don't care that innocent ppl r getting hurt and the criminals are living large

Actually this not only happens in Jamaica but in every other Caribbean island. Look at Dominica elections, opposition party lose and they claiming discrepancies in the votes. Grenada Government here wants to introduce a 5% reconstruction fund were 5% of one's income (first $1000 being tax free) goes into a fund to help rebuild Grenada and the opposition having rally against such.
That's the way Caribbean politics is...dirty, low down and cheap :eusa_snoo

Actually....this is how it is:
Jamaica is still under the ruling of the Privy Council as the final appelate court. They have deemed Capital Punishment to be inhumane...hence Jamaican cant enforce. Our governement then decided that a country who is not experiencing our situations cannot make such a deduction...hence they seeked to form the Caribbean Court Of Justice (CCJ). The opposition is not against it. They said that the government should provide a referrandum i.e. put it to the people to get some feedback before they make such a decision which soley affects the lives of the Jamaican people anyways. Governments response "Jamaicans are not smart enough to know what they want or what is good for them." What you guys thinka bout that? :eusa_thin

In fact, Britain will only deport persons wanted in other countries providing that the death sentence is not given to that person

And another thing...our judicial system is so inefficient that we probably couldn't go through with it. Once convicted you can appeal it. By the time it reaches the Privy Council, if 15 years have passed, you are said to already served a life's sentence so if you're on death row for that long...it is then converted to a life sentence as the you cannot punish a person twice for the same crime (double jeopardy law). Most appeals take longer than 15 years...probably the Privy Council's way of stalling so that we can't execute them!

It is the same way in the Bahamas, the Privy Council in London has final say when it comes to carrying out an execution. Many people are vexed at this situation, as Britain should not have that type of power over independant former colonies.

Not Britians fault my dear....the people who wrote the constituition put it there. We needed one for independence anyways and we didn't have our own. Now we looking to get our own!

That's why the CCJ came to remove the British Privy Council as the final say for the English Speaking Islands

that seems like a good way to prevent alot of deprtees who come to jamaia....some of whom have no family here might i add...........enforce the death penalty....less deportees......killing two birds with one hell of a stone :eusa_thin
