ok ok ok, its not what you're thinking at all. :eusa_naug

while getting my daily dose of news from yahoo's website, i came across this article (http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20050602/tc_afp/internetsex;_ylt=ApKtnywP_ufKZZtKJfGxrTwjtBAF;_ylu =X3oDMTBiMW04NW9mBHNlYwMlJVRPUCUl) its quite an interesting read. they stated that it will help the fight against minors gaining access to pornography sites.

Just another load of foolishness. The only way to censor those sites is to not have them. Kids will get access to them regardless of what they do!

i think this makes them easier to find. think about it, you want to find a site, just time www.something.xxx then BAM, a porn site.

Yeah but what does that have to do with censorship. It actually makes the sites easier to find for these young geniuses.

alot of people make money from these sites, this is not something thats just going to go away. china is trying, but what about the rest of the world to shut these sites down.

Since persons will be using that domain name on a voluntary basis, there will be several people who will not use it. There's actually little incentive to voluntarily use that domain as it makes blocking those sites much easier, thus reducing the potential market for that kind of thing.

People will avoid using it, so the Internet won't be much safer unless they are forced to use it.

But even with blocking the sites these little brats these days have all sort of ways to beat the system!

Is it possible to block that domain all together on a system?

Cause maybe parents (who will actually take the time out and do something for their kids instead of blaming everyone else...anyways) can just block the usage of that extension or something, maybe even have a kind of password access for their own usage.

Alot of people stumble onto these sites accidentally (amen to that :icon_eek: ), atleast it will stop that.

I dont know, how're they going to scan through every website and eliminate all the adult ones? Not sure it can be done. People will find ways around it, so they'll always be there.

Yeah MC that is ture the accidental thing will be reduced..an definitely some ppl weh seh a accident nah go have no excuse!

But as long as it's not mandatory then I think most sites will keep their extensions so as to attract those accidents as much as they can

I remember when I was doing CXC bio and we did a project on diseases. One of the plant diseases just happen to name 'smut'... trust me, the search engines had a field day with my oh so innocent, defenseless eyes.

I think its a good idea yes but because my mind is twisted at times, I think that it is best for a parent to actually view these sites with their child teaching them about sex, the human body, etc. and at the same time telling them that they(the parents) don't find the site a good one. The reason I say this is because u cannot control a child for his/her entire life and personally I would feel better knowing that I was the one who introduced my child to the "world" and show him the positives rather than him\her going out and finding out mainly the bad side of it "out there"

Well the best solution is simple: Parents monitor your child's activity online. It's not only sex but online sex offenders that are there to take advantages of the young girls.

Get a good firewall......my zone alarm can block all sorts of crap if you'nt want to see it and you can always add your own keywords and sites. This will only stop the accidental views. It's up to you, the parent or elder to stop it completely. And if he's smart enough to crack your password, change his account priveleges, disable the fuire alarm just to view it...then he must be old enough so I say reward him with it!!!!:p
