AKA...plastic surgery.
I happened to have the TV on when I heard them mentioned on Entertainment News that girls graduating from high school are getting breast augmentation as gifts from their parents. They went on to show one girl whose parents bought her a jaguar (yes that very expensive car) as graduation gift but she didn't want it she waanted a "boob job instead.
Now what I can't understand is that with all the information out there about the dangers of breast augmentation why would any one want to go thru all of that. Also why are parents even giving into their daughters by going as far as to pay for breast implants?
What are you thoughts on plastic surgery and I don't mean plastic sugery to correct a problem as a result of an accident. If you have a daughter would you give her such a gift?

I think women should be comfortable about their body and be grateful. Those parents are dumb to want to do that. I am sure they know the risks of what can happen. What drive some of these girls to this crap, is when they see all the celebs do it (and some of these celebs are natural) and they want to be like them so they do these surgeries to look like them.
I like when girls are natural, no fake crap like, weeve, color their hair (i see some girls with red, green, blue, white, purple......) breast implants and any other type of implants, extensions etc. Dont have a problem with cream hair that cris.
Nope I would never give my daughter that, if she wants it, I will advise her on the risks, if she still wants to go ahead, then she is going to use her own $$$ to do it, cuz I aint giving her nothing.

June 24, 2005 — Lulu Diaz is excited to show her friends the high school graduation present she got from her parents — her new breasts.
At Lulu's high school and at the beauty school she now attends on New York's Long Island, she says the talk among her friends is about how they look, and getting breast implants. Some of Lulu's friends have gotten them.
"It just made me want to get them done right there. And then when I graduated, my parents were like, all right, congratulations, you got a boob job.
When she was 18, her parents had bought her a Jaguar for graduation. She didn't want a car. They told her: "OK, you can trade it in for new breasts." She did.

Well.....for strictly vain purposes.....I'm against that. Parents should be a bit more responsible but I don't really blame the kids. Low self esteem is very prevailent in today's teens so I understand where they are coming from so it's up to the parents to build that child's self-esteem so they can be proud and satisfied with themselves!

Interesting. I recently read an article about this growing trend among Americas teenagers. There was this one article in People Magazine, about teens in the US who get facelifts and lipo as part of their prepping for senior prome. I was like whoa, you had six years notice for this thing, would have been cheaper to start exercising from the 10th grade or something :icon_mrgr .
I would have to say that no, I would not fund such an endeavour if I was a parent. That money can be better spent on say a college education. If my child ardently desires it then she will have to work and fund the procedure(s) herself. Of ocurse I would hope that my child has the kind of self esteem that would not drive them to do such a thing.

In my opinion, as far as lipo goes, they're just lazy. I watched Doctor 90210 a couple times and some beautiful girls with nice figure in my opinion, getting tuck here and there and it seems ridiculous. I'm sure a month at the gym could fix alot of that.
I wouldn't put a red cent towards it. Work on their self esteem. Once again the problem is friends and the media's influence. Talk to yuh pickney dem. Build there confidence and self esteem from they're young, so no-one can bring them down so easily. I have issues with my body, but I not turning down the surgery road at all. I rather spend the rest of my life in a gym. I feel that if God wanted us to alter ourselves like that, he would send a couple spare parts when you're born

I don't know ....
As I'm an addict of NIP/TUCK, I wondered if I 'd go through all that. :eusa_thin
But I think that it's way too easy to have plastic surgery just to look like you think you should. The physical flaws you have are part of you and growing, living with them if you learn to appreciate them, they can become your best assets.
But my mind may change and at 60, I might go to a surgeon and tell him that I want a lifting, lipo and/or something else. :D

Well in my view i think that men are one of the major reason why these female especially these young children have the dream and i must call it dream of getting their body parts altered to please them. And funny enough these men are drawn to these fake or altered species yes species. I say species and I could also say aliens because once a person as altered his or her natural beauty then you are no longer normal/natural. Especially when this is down without a serious cause lets say for eg. an accident.
Now for the parents who endorse these kind of behavior and endulge in the act as in buying these things for there children NEED some fine BEATING.
We need to pray for our people. :eusa_pray

Seriously, buying body parts is not as bad as many people make it out to be. If your face got badly burnt in a fire wouldn't like to remove the scars?
Answer: Plastic Surgery.

CBS analyzed four years of Viagra adverse events reported to the FDA. There were eye problems in more than 800 patients with more than 140 cases of partial or total blindness. These reports alone aren't proof of a direct link, but experts look to them for patterns. From: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/06/27/eveningnews/main704562.shtml
I have seen reports were people lost all vision after using it two times.

Sometimes the reason is beyond what you can see Geapet. One most difficult thing for many person to do is to become comfortable with themselves. It is for this reason why many consider plastic surgery. In fact it is the very reason why many wear make up ;), plastic surgery is just more permanent.

June 30, 2005, 10:02 AM
Now another key word here is permanent. Permanency changes everything and when this happens then you are no longer the original you,the beautyful you. You become scared for life and sometimes these scares are your downfall. :eusa_snoo

Actually the concept I was trying to bring to you is that people strive to becomfortable about themselves. This is something that you should respect.
You can mold people in to what you want them to be for you. You have to accept what they bring to the table, and then decipher you can tolerate it or not.
If a lady wants to enhance her breast, straighted her nose so that she can feel better about herself I see nothing wrong with it, in the same breath as a lady how buys false hair and put on her her for the same reason.

Okay fine, im open minded and as such i was giving my view and believe on the whole thing. I accept everyone as they are be it: color, religion, culture, race, etc. At the end of the day or should i say at the END of it all we are the ones accountable for ourself and must at some point in time answers to the higher BEING (GOD). I guess it is their thing; jus like homos have their own thing going on for them or as a matter of fact people in general, we all are doing what pleases us aren't we?

This has long been a side-effect. Sometimes the men are able only to see the colour blue. another well known side-effect is priapism (prolonged erection for over four hours). To some of you men (and women) this may be a dream come through but this type of side effect is unatural....and hence you may experience circulatory problems......whether neuro (i.e. brain) or cardio (heart). If the heart or brains oxygen quota is cut....you all know what will happen right?
