is hell a continuos punishment, or just for the amount of damage u did ?Now, is hell continous punishment, one word ansa..Yes.
And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. Matthew 25:46
And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. Revelations 20:10

I can't understand what Icuucme saying. Anyways...right after you die, you'll wake up to your judgement. Reason being is that, when you die, you lose consciousness so obviously the next time you gain consciousness will seem like an instant. The righteous will be called to heaven with Jesus and the unrighteous will be cast into the lake of fire with the Dragon...aka the Devil. The Lord will return in 1000 years with a new Jerusalem (new Earth) and shall destroy the devil and his minions once and for all.

According to the Bible, when we die, we are unconcious, or "asleep". The dead can't see or hear anything. They know nothing.
Daniel 12:2 KJV
2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
Ecclesiastes 9:5-6 KJV
5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.
Ecclesiastes 9:10 KJV
10 Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.
is hell a continuos punishment, or just for the amount of damage u did ?
ansa :eusa_eh:
According the Bible, there are two resurrections. The first resurrection is that of the good people who died in Christ. The second, 1000 years after the first, is that of the wicked.
Revelation 20 4-5 KJV
4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
At the end of the 1000 years, when the wicked dead are resurrected, this is what happens:
Revelation 20:7-9
7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.
In the end, the wicked are consumed, destroyed, eliminated. The are not tortured anywhere in flames forever. They are eternally punished, by being eternally separated from God - the source of Life - since they will cease to exist.
The punishment is the absence of life, not eternal torture.
"Hell" is an event (the wicked being consumed by fire from Heaven), not a place.

Perhaps you guys didn't notice the wink smiley at the end of my post? Truly we do not know what happens after we die. Perhaps we become the feed for other animals and plants so they may live and nourish other plants and animals - so what?
Religion may be an attempt to try to find an alternative to this somewhat gruesome outlook, something we can explain to our children, so that life seems to have a purpose - just like we tell them that babies come from storks or that there is a Santa Claus or a Tooth Fairy?
I say perhaps the Old Bard knew what he was talking about more than he realised. ;) (See below).

LOL...so whappen to poaching? Japanese feed on whale meat and use the blubber for oil. Which reminds me...albeit off topic....isn't killing shark for food illegal? In Jamaica? I went to a popular restaurant the other day and saw "Shark's Fin Soup" on the menu. As far as I know...isn't this illegal?

Easier than you think. With God, all things are possible.
James 4:7 NIV
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Just start saying no to bad things, and see how much easier it becomes to stay away from them.

Ephesians 5:18 KJV
18And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
The question is: How much is too much?
And: Once you start, how easy/difficult is it to stop before you consume too much?
Best bet is to avoid it altogether.

No one knows were we'll go after we die and as such most persons are afraid to die. Being human, it is only natural for us to fear the unknown and we also fear change; imagine your life changing to death and your place of stay changing to somewhere no one knows...not so easy to accept.
The exception is those persons willing to commit suicide and still no one can ever understand how they ever managed to kill themselves....i guess when one has reached to the point of understanding such behaviour then it would be a case where that person is capable of such act or has attempted such act....WHO KNOWS?
NO ONE KNOWS! :eusa_pray :eusa_pray

I believe after we die our souls go somewhere to rest until its judgement day. On judgement day we'll be tried for our sins and sent to heaven or hell. We'll be given houses in heaven according to how good we were i.e mansions 4 nice ppl n maybe apartments to share for the not so nice ones. Persons who have gone 2 hell will burn for eternity.

Can all the stories that you have heard of the after life all possible at the same time? No. Some must be created.
Some are created fear of what can happen. This being done to let an individual conform to one behavior to escape eminient doom... (I am sure that sounds like a lot of churches you know).
Some paint the picture of infinete riches; streets of gold, milk and honey blaa blaa.... appealing to the materialistic at heart. Again conform to this behavior and you will acquire these.
Which one indoctrinated you?
Assumption is the toy of the uncertain and the playground of fools.
I choose to live my life not expecting anything of the after life. I am given my life to live it (and make it profitable), not to spend it considering what will happen to it when it ends. (Ref: Jesus' parable of the 3 men and talents they were given).

A big clue to this question might lay with what happened to the original man.He was told that he would die if he disobeyed his creator. He diobeyed his creator and died.
Nothing about eternal damnation or hellfire was mentioned.Adam the first man was made of dust and returned there on his demise.
His hell was knowing that he had the chance of eternal life but would soon exit his present existence and return to a state of none-existence.
I think where many people get their concept of hell from is Jesus' parable of the poor man and the rich man after they had slipped this mortal coil. If you take the parable literally, then you might well believe in hell, however if taken as the illustration it was intended, then sixty or eighty years on earth will not equal eternity in pains.
GOD does not think as an imperfect being. He does not hold grudges, even against those who knowingly ignore him.
Everything will be taken care of in its' time.
We exist because of his will.We will cease to exist according to his pronouncement.
Those who dont' know better and do worng, allowances will be made for them.
Those of us who know better and fail to act accordingly......

Lazarus came back from the grave, to name but one.He made no mention of how sorry he was to have been called back from heaven, nor did he say thanks to Jesus for getting him out of hellfire. The fact is the man had died and was in a state of unconsciousness until life was once more granted to him.
Even if Lazarus had been cremated and his dust scattered to the four winds, it would present no problem for the Almighty to bring him back.Jesus did not perform this act for the benefit of Lazarus or his relatives, but for those who costantly seek an excuse to doubt his Fathers' existence and power.
