I still would love to know some of the better beaches out here.

A few weeks back I wanted to go to a beach, but didn't know where a good beach was.

Dunns River Falls is too small and always packed on holidays and weekends. Can hardly find any place to sit down.
Puerto Rico is alright.
Doctors Cave. Never been there.

We don't know anymore beaches?

There's one at Porto Seco (did I spell it right?), Treasure Beach, Whitehouse (St. Elizabeth) and various ones in the Negril area. I have to agree that Doctor's Cave Bathing Club is the best one, however.

Drew
March 2, 2005, 01:32 PM
yea been to dolphin cove, i believe they renovated it, so i want to go back. but i want to check out this doctor's cave. yea i saw this member subscription, not bad, but i don't think i would be going that often to use it. its 8grand for family membership and like 5gran for individuals for a year, thats definately a good price.

It depends on when you go there. I have always liked going to the beach during the week, it's less crowded then. :)

Lime Cay is a tiny uninhabited island approx 3 miles north of Port Royal. The water is very clear with white sand beach. You have to get one of the fisher men to take you there. I don't know how much they charged now. However you can always bargain with them. I think the Morgan's Harbour Hotel has organised trips also.

I have been there twice but I would love to visit there again.

BTW your cell phone will work from there too:) The last time I was there which was in 1999 my cell phone worked.

Some of the best beaches are the ones that are not publicized, or developed. Just a little secluded spot where you can have your slice of paradise.

A want u know that you have people who slice paradise on negril beach. The other day i saw a couple doing it on the sand and i approach them with my camera and start taking pictures, n they said nothing, it was ma friends who had to drag me away to make the people get them privacy.

No one by law can own beach, it is public property, up to the shore line I believe. However what people do own is beach front property, and what they do is gate their property to keep out tresspassers, basically removing access to the beach from the public.

Yes but if a beach is public property, some form of access should be granted to the beach.

There was a similiar issue some years ago where someone bought a property on a shore line and took away the "shortcut" to the beach by putting up a fence. The owner claimed that his papers showed him being the owner of the shortcut.

Another issue was a French businessman who purchased one of the "out" islands to build a hotel and resort. Persons claimed that the access to those beaches on that island was removed by the owner.

Well therin lies the problem with beaches, the rights of the owner to isolate his property to that of the public that wants to access the beaches. It is a very difficult situation to try and equalize for both parties. Often times the public looses out.
