ST. JOHN'S, Antigua: The West Indies selectors have called up hard-hitting middle order batsman Ricardo Powell for the Triangular One Day Series in Sri Lanka.
Powell left the Caribbean on Friday to join the West Indies squad in time for the first match of the tri-nation series against India on July 31. The West Indies are currently in Kandy taking part in the second and final Test of the series and at its conclusion the 14-man team will depart to Dambulla where they will be joined by the hosts and India.
With the single addition of Powell, all hopes were dashed that some of the 10 senior players would join the team on a contract agreement.
Powell, 26, a Jamaican-born batsman, who switched his citizenship to Trinidad and Tobago to be with his wife, has played 105 one-day internationals in which he has scored 2,070 runs, including one century and eight half-centuries.
