Thanks ICUUCME.
But other doctors said they would have expected some deaths and no investigation is warranted. They point to more than 4 million women who have safely used the patch and note that the FDA reports are called in voluntarily, rather than gathered scientifically.
I took that from the article u sent me to, dem mad eeh!!! They expected deaths, then why u gonna put something on the market that u EXPECT to kill people, whether it be a few or many. Dem ppl ya sick. Bwoy mi nuh know. :eusa_eh:

You must remember that simple everyday tablet such as Panadol or Excedrin can kill people. Have you ever watch the advertisements on the US channels and hear the side effects of some of these tablets? It all depend on how your body may react to them. Therefore, it may kill one in every 100,000 women who use it and they allow it to be release.. The question I would like to ask is, how much out a thousand persons must a particular drug kill before it is not recommended to go on the market?

Bunny, you must remember there are women who take birth control medication not because they are having ‘sex’ but because they have a chemical imbalance that cause problems with their menstrual cycle. So they have to take these medications. Abstinence is a good idea in theory, but when you are a male, reality tends to hit hard.

LOL @ LB
Anyways there is a health risk attached to every pharmaceutical put out there. Something as simple as asprin has taken a few lives because people are for eg. have sever allergic reactions to it. Listen to those pharmaceutical ads, they often list a slew of side effects form constipation to heart murmurs. Nothing is absolute. The best thing one can do is compare the risks attached to such meds and pharmaceuticals with the advice of a doctor.

This Postinor thing should've never become an over the counter drug. Just gives ppl an excuse to have unsafe sex without facing up to the consequences. Although I mean it's still stupid because postinor doesn't prevent s.t.ds; and those girls who are taking them as if they're sweets should know that these pills do have long-term effects, not good ones.
I just hope that ppl wise up and consider just protecting themselves from the 'get-go' and completely. Please!! :eusa_pray

every single one of these birth control have side effects, even condoms and even u r in a commiteed relationship eg marriage u might not be ready for kids just yet so what do u do. going to a doctor for birth control advice doesnt mean side effects wont happen. and even if u use non with ur commited partner u can still be vulnerable to transmitted infection its just apart of life......
and u can never be positively sure that ur partner is faithful to u come on people even the pastor who preach abstinence and curse adultery are still doing in the back of the church with church sisters.......
Pardon me straying for a minute there

Postinor 2 has serious side effects (especially long term) that a lot of women seem not to look into. More noticably for those women who so happen to take it on a regular basis.
This is not a fact but my opinion.
This tablet is high in concentration in progestagen, whose intent is to imitate the feminine hormone progesterone. What this does is to initiate a break down of the walls in the uterus. This prevents the egg from being implanted in it and as such no pregnancy can occur.
(side note: The blood that you see each menstral cycle is due to the break down of these uterus walls. When the egg reaches the uterus and is not fertilize (by sperm), the egg cannot be implanted in the walls. As such the Ovaries initiated the release of progesterone to cause the break down of the walls as well as subsequently removing the unfertilized egg.)
That being said, the frequency of taking these tablets especially in periods where the walls aren't even near full development can cause serious abdomial crams or may even eventually damage the uterus.
I would advice caution/moderation with you use of this tablet.

If I remember correctly, the birth control patch does something to your lymph nodes. It blocks them i think. This causes swwollen glands and eventually poisoning the body. There have been numerous cases of death. As for the Prostinor....I implore you young ladies today....DO NOT USE PROSTINOR.... I know of atleast three girl that developed cysts on there ovaries because of it. In some cases, the cyst does go away by itself as with two of the girls but one of them, a very close friend of mine, had to have an emergency operation to remove hers because it wouldn't stop growing. It ruptured while the doctors were removing it but they cleaned it up and she's no ok. In her case though, she had taken Prostinor more than twice in a one month period. She had seriosu headaches, irregular periods, nausea and about 8-10 months later....she had a sharp pain in her abdomen which doctors originally thought were kidney stones but atleast they had ebough sense to do an ultra sound. At the time of the ultra sound it was about the size of quarter (American 25c) and just about week later....it was the size of a golf ball when they removed it....
A word to the wise...if you're gonna have sex...use condoms. Do not rely on birth control pills. The side effects for just 60 minutes of fun is not worth it.

Like Justice said women aren't taking birth control pills just as a protection from pregnancy but also because some women has problems during their menstrual cycle and most doctors advice that the pill is a to regulate their period and helps with those painfull cramps.

All contraceptives are unsafe yeah they can prevent you from having a kid but while its doing that its also doing something else like giving you heart desease and blood clots and so on. And the thing about this is that you usually find out that you have heart disease when it is too late and u usually find out u have a blood clot when u dead.

Contraceptives including the pill,patch,etc...all have their pros and cons. What is important,is that we educate ourselves to the max before making a decision. Let's face it:there is hardly any medical professional (doctor/pharmacist) who will inform you of all the cons. Do you notice that they always highlight the pros?

If you have a doctor that prescribes or reccomends anything for you and does not tell you the side effects you need to switch doctors. EVERY medical professional is suppose to tell you the side effects of everything they reccomend that you take, if they don't then you should ask so you know that when you take your pills there is a chance that you will experience certain things regardless of how mild.

I didn't say that they don't inform you of the side effects...I stated that they won't tell you ALL the pros and the cons (good / bad possible side effects.)
Medical professionals including doctors are not going to go through all the possible side effects of whatever they recommend. They will tell the most obvious/most common side effects...BUT bear in mind that each person reacts differently to any medication, including the pill/patch...it is your responsibility once you start noticing side effects that make you uncomfortable,to notify your doctor.
If you follow any information leaflet that comes with medications, including the pill/patch,you would never take even Panadol...the manufacturers of the items are compelled under the regulatory laws of medical professionals to state each and every side effect that they noticed during their trial testings, even if only 1 person out of 10 million experienced a particular side effect. So it doesn't mean you will have the same side effect as another person.

So after knowing the pros and cons of these contraceptives answer this……
Men whose girlfriend(s) currently takes these contraceptives and ladies who are on the pill, patch, coil, ring etc.
You are fine with trading health and life for the prevention of pregnancy - not that it will definitely happen to you nevertheless you welcome the risk:icon_ques :icon_ques

It is everyone's personal choice as to what they use for the prevention of pregnancy...to say it is a trade for health and life is going to the extreme...it is a matter of weighing the pros and cons based on the decisions you make regarding prevention of pregnancy.
What happens to some persons is different with others...I took the pill, had no side effects and then I came off when I wanted a child. For others, they don't all share the same experiences.Everyone has different hormonal levels in their body and this determines how we respond to contraceptives.

I know about all these contraceptives and so on, its just are the 2 methods that will more cause blood clots and the chances of detecting a clot from early is very very slim heart disease can be detected via regular check ups but not clots so even though u change the patch once a week and the ring every month and its more convenient its also more dangerous.

Temptress, I guess it all comes down to what risks you are willing to take...there are alot of great benefits from the pill,patch,etc...personally,the coil would be a no-no for me...there are too many issues with that...in fact, any external device that is planted inside a woman, comes with alot of risks, esp.since with the coil,it's allowed to stay in for 5 years...at least with the pill you can come off anytime you want to...
 Clots: That indeed is a possible side effect...however,like I said before,it's up to each person and their choice. You may never have clots...and if/when you do,it might not necessarily be caused from using contraceptive...you can get clots just by standing too long at work...not eating the right foods,genetics,etc...
Personally,I have witnessed persons who have never eaten/taken/done anything risky and still they end up with cancers,clots,etc...in the end,we just never can tell what we'll be facing. You can make a decision to do everything as healthy as possible and end up with some form of cancer was the case of an aunt of mine;she didn't even put chemicals in her hair. One great factor to remember is your genes...understanding your family's medical history is extremely important...one of the first questions a doctor will ask is "does anyone in your family have.......?"
But Temptress,if this is a personal issue you are concerned with for yourself/someone,get as much info as possible and get second, third and fourth opinions, until you are satisfied.
