I was planning on slotting this in the news and current affairs section, but a mixture of technical no not how and wanting to generalise a little bit more around this topic made me take this route instead.
Yesterday it was revealed in the news how a black man who had been beaten up by a police officer(s) lost his claim to
actual bodily harm or such like. The injury consisted of a kick to the nuts which left bruising and also a chipped tooth,he also(the victim),was already
in handcuffs when this took place.
Big deal you might say the cops get away such things daily,so what's new about this then?
Well I would agree that they get away with things they often should not.The fact is though, this incident was all captured on closed-circuit television,so all the evidence needed is there, done and dusted, but not so.
So the court has ruled against this blatant abuse of power invested in those who are supposed to uphold law and order, then it would seem to me that they cast their eyes at others, usually in the the third world and criticize the means that they might employ in their system.Does double standard spring to mind anyone?
Also being a black man we come in for excessive scutiny by the police and it's associated agencies anyway, now with things being the way they are concerning terrorism, carte blanche seems to be the way ahead.
Yes these are troubled times, and not necessarily in the manner you might imagine. :icon_eek:
