Watching the movie "Ray" I got to thinking of how important sight is. It could suddenly be taken away - in an instant. How prepared are you? Could you get around if one day it happens to you through an accident or Diabetes?
You can try this at home with your eyes fully closed, in small steps if necessary:
1. Put on your shoes and clothes while seated or standing up.
2. Small walks around your bedroom, turning on and off appliances/lights.
3. Bathroom functions, excluding shaving!
If you can master these, try some more inventive stuff. Remember: safety is important so do not try anything too risky.

If it happens ( I will have no other choice, but to prepared), but as it is know, I will cherish the sight that I am blessed with now. Not interested in thinking about the extreme of that situation.

So all of you believe there is no sense in being prepared for eventualities? Just because you don't want to think about it will not prevent it from happening.
Then I can well say the same. I don't want to think about a hurricane hitting Jamaica, so on that basis it will never happen. Thus I do not need to be prepared, right? I'll just hide my head in the sand.

Blindness is not an eventuality, it is a probablity that varies depending on the individual. Someone with diabetes or glaucoma will have a higher probablity of loosing their sight , compared to someone without these ailments. And I am talking during an average lifespan of 70 years for example. A hurricane hitting Jamaica on the other hand is an eventuality, that has been proven over and over again over many generations. It is bound to occur, but when is the big question.
I understand where you are coming from, but should I for instance simulate living as a paraplegic and immobilizing myself just in case paralysis happens. As a fully mobile individual, I see that as mental torture and in a way inviting the unfortunate of events. If someone is fully aware of an ailment in their body, before it takes a debilitating aim, then I can see one trying to adjust to the eventual (i.e. It would have been published and diagnosed as an eventual physical or mental outcome of a particular ailment).

if i think about being blind, i may have to start thinking about being deaf....then losing a limb......being paralized from the neck down.....lawd too much to think bout i would never be happy. i just want to cherish the freedom i have now with all my members in tact.....when i reach di bridge....i will cross...(or drop over).......
