Set in rural Pennsylvania in 1897, this is the story of the small village of Covington (population 60) surrounded by a woods inhabited by a race of "mythical creatures," and the romance that blossoms between Kitty (Greer), the daughter of the town's leader (Hurt), and Lucius (Phoenix), a young man who questions the policy of keeping Covington's citizens completely confined to the village.

I just did not get it with this movie.Dont expect any Sixth Sense in this one.I understand the whole story and all but I am certain I saw something like this in "The Twilight Zone".

They referred to the creatures as "the ones we do not speak of" and there is the safe colour and the colour that attracts the "ones we do not speak of." I guess if you go to see this movie with an open mind you will enjoy it.

If you have not watched the movie as yet but intend to watch it, please do not read this post

I think the reason I figured it out is the first time the things in red were going to the houses in the night...the little glimpse i got of it looks like some costumes that they put on in some if the Jamaican pantomimes. I then thought that that couldnt really be the monsters in a big movie like this. so i just concluded that they were not real overall.

I know unu did still read it..oh well

I think this movie was very good actor performance-wise

the mentally challenged guy and the blind girl had excellent performaces

the movie pretty much got spoiled for me when she went into the "real world" to get help

I watched this movie with an open mind, knowing M. Night Shyamalan's penchant for keeping secrets until close to the end (and his habit of appearing in his own pictures). All in all, a good movie, a bit slow at times, and the ending not unexpected. The extra info given by Shyamalan and his employer was lame at the least, but it was needed to fill in a few blank spots.
