ADSL WOES CABLE & WORTHLESS

Could you believe it I was blazing at 1.024kb =1.02mb today up to about 12pm then the stupid internet in our area went down made it worst I had a big project to email to a client. I have been paying for 1mb for about 2 months now and this week is the first it actually felt like 1mb. Today I waited from 12-3PM then I actually went and call the unreliable customer care ppl at Cable & Worthless the guy say there is a problem in the area where I live the internet will be down for 3 days :icon_eek: am a Web Developer I need the net 3days mean 3days without work because my current client stuff is already online and I have a deadline to meet. So they say 3days then he say you should use the dialup service instead (hello ppl I am paying US$69 a month for this crappy service and I should use dialup it is so unfair). So month end will come and I must pay C&W with a smile my hard earn money for crappy service.

Last night the net went down I called customer care service I fell asleep over the phone waiting on one them to answer my cry for help when I wake up 45mins pass only to hear on the other end of the line "please hold all our agents are busy at this time" :eusa_snoo unacceptable C&W cannot go off boasting about service when they only cater for the upper class and forget the small ppl I mean I work in new kingston the internet never goes down or give trouble and if it does its like for less than 5mins . I remember 3 months ago when I was on 256k service was dirt poor I payed for 256k and got about 128K on a good day I get for about 5mins per week (lol sound crazy but its true) 256k.

Cable and Wireless need to improve da dang service they offering to ppl the only reason I dont just tell the bastards to come take there crappy service off my machine is because of the fine print in the dumb contract stating that we have to keep the service for a yr before we can cancel are else we have to pay fine (bastards :) ) .

PS I am writing this post on DIALUP 36k :(

If u had money you could contact a lawyer, I see ground for a liable action especially if they make you lose money due to the bad service. Unless u signed a contract that stated they cannot be held liable for disruption in service and losses thereof.

Listen even if I had the money to do that I wouldnt why am going up against a International company and yes I think it is stated in the contract somewhere The mare fact the offer an alternative even though its not sufficient I dont think I would win the case so instead of getting a lawyer better I keep ma money and cable and worthless count the days left on ma stinking contract because as soon as the new guys land I GOING FOR IT

Its because there is no Justice here why u can’t get any.. I do live in Jamaica, but I believe that people should take a stance against these big corporations who have monopolies and feel they can push people over. It’s a sad thing what they are doing to you, my friend is having the same trouble with them.

just try it when ever you have the time call c&w any time after 5pm and look at you watch to see how long they take to answer you call on tech support for internet user

@CHRIS I know you have links with these peeps but I have a big question for ya does any of them ever read these comment on both TJ & CY to see what the customer really thinks about them (or it doesnt really matter to them) and how they can improve customer service. If they dont read what on your Forums then could you be our voice and help us voice our fustration

MadHacker....I've been without net for about a week....and I was getting 64 kbps connection speed for about two weeks prior to that....and I'm paying for 512. Anyways they fixed it on Wednesday...wnt home yesterday...it was down...same thing this morning. If I never had school..I'd go down there and forget I was a christian for 5 mins....and really lay it on them!!!! :eusa_snoo

But seriously, my internet speed has really increased, b4 i was getting connected at about 90 kbps on my 128k but for the last month or so im getting connected at about 115k

Lastnight it appears the entire Washington exchange was down. Persons kept on asking me if my dsl was up. I didn't really have much to do on the net, so it never really affected me. However Acidbalde :rolleyes: call me a bawl

- Exactly! :eusa_clap MadHacker didn't sign up for a business account which is based on fibre-optic ATM technology (and is exponentially more expensive). The only way that MadHacker can file a libel suite against CWJ for damages is if he had a business account. However, MadHacker has a residential ADSL Account. In the contract agreement for residential accounts, it clearly states that CWJ:


...PROVIDES THE SERVICE ON AN "AS-IS" BASIS, WITH NO WARRANTY DIRECTLY, IMPLIED OR OTHERWISE FOR THE SERVICE... CUSTOMERS WILL NOT HOLD CWJ LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES, LOSSES.......AS A RESULT OF USING THIS SERVICE...

So even if MadHacker was rich enough to afford a lawyer, the judge would throw out the case either because of:


An infringement of the contract agreement between CWJ and the USER
The case is classifiable as "a frivolous lawsuit"


It'd be more likely to be a case of #1 than #2 though. Who am I kidding? The lawyer would take one look at the contract agreement and advice Madhacker to avoid pursuing the case - then charge him for consultation fees. :rotflm:

- Yes they do - but only on TechJamaica (hence why this is on the wrong forum). Their CSRs are required to monitor the forums on TechJamaica for little things like this to gauge the extent of a problem and anticipate incoming calls. Those forums also provide a good basis for gauging demand for their service! Did you know that Cable & Wireless does this? They do!

There's a little thing I bet you didn't know about TechJamaica. ;)

This is part of the reason why Chris closed down the Off-Topics and had CY take it's place. TJ has serious professional appeal, so you should seriously consider making use of those forums for issues like these. There's no point in asking Chris to do anything more than he already has - or duplicating your effort needlessly on a forum which most certainly will help neither you nor CWJ.

By posting your concern here, you are taking the ball out of CWJ's court. Think about it. ;)
