If you are overweight, how best can you lose the weight?

Having gotten to an acceptable weight, how do you keep it under control so you do not become overweight?

How do you do all this in a way which does not cause any other health problems?

Eat right and maintain excercise.
I did and will do it again. I had to loose 30 pounds to get up in rank when i was in the army and thats what I did and lost it all. (not that i am overweight or nothing). Just saying, put you mind to it, eat right(small portions), excercise and maintain a positive and spiritual attitude. Have a balance in your life.

hmmm that does not work for everyone... no matter how some people exercise it does not work... It has a lot to do with the bodies metabolism rate... Most people make the mistake of eating just before going to bed... not good :eusa_naug this gives rise to increased fat etc... your last meal should be at least 3hrs beofre bed... that's a general tip that works for everyone...

True Greatis, but when I'm going to bed and feel peckish I gotta get something to ease the gap :) I usually eat fruit or an icicle pop. Something "light".

Fi real. Don't eat some big meal before going to bed. A pure fat dat yu harvesting!!
My younger brother ate a bowl of icecream then went to bed afterwards. I tried to warn him, but he wanted to satisfy his huner. oh well.

I have a high metabolism rate, so no matter how much I eat, I don't gain wait. ohhh yummmy!!! hehe But I still do excercise, to exchange some of that fat for muscle. grrrrrr

You know I work till 10pm at nights and lunch time for me is 7pm. I try to eat enough then. Cause when I come in form work I am starving. I tend to want to snack on a jelly sandwich for a while and juice/water. My metabolism is low. Even if I eat something as small as an ant, my body takes it in (sometimes in all the wrong place ;)). So I watch it.

Drink WATER too. that helps alot!

I want to lose like 40lbs... but bwoy!!! It come in like i have no discipline :-( . I lost some wirght one time when i was in Atlanta. man i was going to the gym 5-6 days a weeks for like an hour each day, eating my small 5-6 meals a day. and feeling great! Had a car accident and all of that came to a grinding halt.....
I have to agree with Jacocoabutter eat right an excercise!!! that will prevail all the time.
Greatis I have to disagree with u.. if the excercise isn't workign the person has to look at thier diet. If they are TRULY excercising and see no change they need to take a look at their diet an change it up accordingly. In dealing with ur diest that is also where ur metabolism comes into place.
It boils down to knowing how ur body reacts to certain things.
