What is this about click quick reply from prev. post to activate quick reply window? :( I think that part not needed.

Ahh, Quick edit. i like that :D What else is new?

Drew
October 2, 2005, 09:50 PM
yeah the quick edit is a nice touch. honestly don't like the clicking "quick reply" button everytime i want to make a post, but it won't kill me so no big deal.

i like the new headings, make it simplier to check out the thread titles i have open.

- u can input the page number u want to go to in a particular thread...where u see that?? show me please.

Look where the page numbers are at the bottom (to quickly go to a page). Beside the numbers you will see a drop down arrow. Click that.

October 2, 2005, 10:37 PM
The requirement to click the quick repy button to post a quick reply has been turned off. It probably wouldn't have made must sense at this time anyway since the previous posts/threads didn't require it and so the threaded/hybrid thread views wouldn't have made much sense.

Which thread ?

The only little quirk I am seeing, is when I view a thread that has new posts, make a reply to the thread and go back to the "New Posts" page, it still shows up BOLD as a thread I haven't read yet. Before, it would show that you already read it. But it is detecting my posts as a new post to the thread that I haven't read. How silly is that?

hey, i noticed something with posting a link awhile ago, it doesn't ask me for the text that should be displayed. u kno, like u post a link and u want to say 'here" is the link, i didn't see that pop-up window. was that never on caribyard or was it removed??

But the thing is, it has never been that way for me. It always show that it was Read even after I reply to it. Unless someone else replied while I was replying. So they changed it again in this new update. Argh!! :eusa_wall

I believe the enhanced mode option would just insert the tags into the text box and you will do the rest. The other option would help or aid you in constructing whatever tag you selected, by using the popup boxes. Chris might have set the default to be Enhanced and the option been removed. Cause I know it is available on techj.

Interesting. I just made a post a while ago, using the quick reply box and afterwards, I saw my post appear at the bottom when it supposed to be appear at the top. I have my settings set to show newest posts first in a thread. So it shouldn't have been at the bottom.

After a refresh, it showed correctly. But initially after I posted, it wasn't in it's correct place.

See pics below:
http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/4052/cysnapshot2ks.th.png (http://img341.imageshack.us/my.php?image=cysnapshot2ks.png)
http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/9420/cysnapshot28rv.th.png (http://img341.imageshack.us/my.php?image=cysnapshot28rv.png)

The first 1 one shows the most recent posts in the thread.
The second one shows my post, which should be at the top, in the first picture.

You can also look at the time stamp on the posts and see that my post is in the wrong order.

Make sure you wait for the page to fully load before pressing any of the editor options or the smilies.

The javascript that controls them doesn't start working until the page fully loads.

Look for it the same way how you found the one here. You can always view the FAQ and see where the RSS feed is http://www.caribyard.com/forums/faq.php?faq=vb_board_usage#faq_vb_rss_syndication

You can find it in the FAQ at the other forum too.

You need an RSS reader. Most email clients should be able to read RSS feeds. You can try creating a new RSS News account in your email client.
Or you can add it to your google portal if you want. Most portals allow you to add an RSS feed.

Drew

There is no orange icon in the picture of your browser there drew.

But I understand which icon you talking about. You mean the RSS icon at the bottom right corner?
It shows up on everypage on CY in my browser. What version FF you using?

Drew

There is no orange icon in the picture of your browser there drew.oh the picture is to show how the new topics looked. the split saying that that thread has unseen posts by me but isn't new. not the rss feed.

yes i'm talking about the rss button. i'm using version 1.0.6. ok, i realized that it just doesn't show on the new post page, but its on all the others.

Oh duh. :eusa_doh:

The rss icon should be there. Because the rss link is in the header of all the pages.

<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="Caribbean Online Community ~ CaribYard.com RSS Feed" href="external.php?type=RSS" />Maybe you could do a hard refresh on the New Posts page. Ctrl + F5.

Regarding the split in the picture, yes I saw it on my New Posts page too. Not sure how it works though. Although some posts in there I didn't read on my previous visit.
