Jamaica as Puerto Rico

What do you think on the matter of letting the Jamaica be apart of the US and their government just like Puerto Rico?

Puerto Rico can fly as they like in and out of the US, Jamaicans can't without a visa/citizenship. They can be citizens by just being born in P.R, Jamaicans have to be naturalized (and that cost too). It is also wayyyy cheaper to fly from US to PR and viceversa. More expensive to fly where Jamaica is concerned.

You know there are so many advantages and disadvantages.
Why not have Jamaica being just like Puerto Rico? Don't you think it would be better? :eusa_thin

Call me unpatriotic, but in this global economy it's getting difficult for small countries to be self-sustainable especially when the leaders can lead. Look around at the small countries that are prospering and you'll find the countries with close ties to a "parent" country. The mention of PR is a good example. I've never been there but from what I've seen in the media it sure appears that they are a prosperous and patriotic set of people with their PR days in the US and all. So it is possible to remain patriotic while "parented" by another country.

The reality is that I can't use my patriotism to buy groceries at the supermarket ;)

Exactly CHris. The next question is how independent is Jamaica? It is indeed getting rougher and I want to how has Jamaica's independence benefitted us?

I donot think it is unpatriotic to say you want to be under the US rule.
What have the Ja Government shown to reassure us as citizens that the state and condition of the Island is getting better?

Just a few things that concerns me and burns my heart to know that Jamaica has been independent since 1962 and its seem that the island is getting worse and worse.

hmmm I almost had a fit when I saw this thread. My ans is NOOOOO. Why I hate the US for everything it stands for period. Ja why not just ask if we want to go back under British colonial rule but US yuh mussa lik yuh head.
