For people like me who is pretty anemic and would bite my nails down to the flesh on a daily basis, what is the best cure for anemia?

I am currently on iron tablets.

Apart from taking iron suplements and making sure that you eat food that contain iron, it's also important to know about iron absorption. For example, Vitamin C aids Iron absorption, however for it to work you have to take the 2 together. Note also that some food interfere with iron absoption, eg, dairy products, coffee, some sodas, etc. They usually recommend that you take iron suppliments on an empty stomach. It's best to do some research or get the info from your doctor.

Oh BTW knowing what works with what, goes for most nutrients and Vitamins. For example they recommend that Iron and Vitamin E are not to be taken at the same time.

hmmmmm were have i seen this before. Anemia. I dont really have any advice other than try and follow doctors advice and get plenty of rest. Fluids for the adrenal glands and a good diet. Also you can check your local health store for supplements and foods like organic foods. Maybe better for you since most meats and other foods have alot of additives in them. Read up on some healthy eating, like maybe vegen diets and things like that. Some of my friends are just goiing complete vegen now. They say its more healthy for you. Carbs and sugars may factor in somehow and keep the blood count down. So maybe try monitoring that and then go back and get tested and see if there was any changes. I think you have to try some different things on your own. But always try and do it safely. Good Luck. and Good Health[/COLOR]

You should eat food that contain more iron like meat, chicken & friends, fish and seafood but also green beans, almonds and nuts,, dried fruits. And as BM said avoid some that prevent the good absorption of iron like tea, dairy products and friends.
I'm telling this but I don't follow half of it while I really should.
