nope...not at all. i think many lazy youths use hunger as an excuse to carry out illegal activities. i know that our state has very little jobs to offer and so many of those available does not pay well but some of these youths can find something to do other than to sit around waiting for hand outs.
many of them just sit on the corner and demand the hard working man to give them of his hard earned pay. why cant they go find something to do? cut someones grass or lawn....get a trade....plant some food and you wont have to be hungry.

Thats right Bernie however, some of these youths don't have the opporunities because the poverty is being passed on from other generations to them so they drop out of school from an early stage and do what they see others doing and thats picking up their guns and robbing ppl...

Poverty is a very cheap excuse to commit crimes. I mean if you can't get an 8am - 4pm jpb, try other skills like farming or fishing. Hard workr but it pays off well.

I agree with u girl but it still does not justify crime.

I am coming from a poor family and it never crossed my mind to go rob or kill ppl. I also have 4 brothers and none of them have ever been in jail and the police is not looking any of them either. I have a mother who does not stand for folishness from her children and so if any of us just think about doing anything like that she will escort us to the station herself.

I understand what ur saying but the poverty i'm talking bout is those who can't afford to go to school... There parents couldn't afford to altho i find that strange cuz my mama did her watever it took to get me thru school cuz my pupa is no where to be found from time to time

There are food banks, the Salvation Army, the Red Cross, Churches, etc. etc. , who by their mandates provide food for hungry, needy, unemployed souls. Therefore there is no excuse in my opinion to go and lick some innocent person upside their head, shoot them, or maim them for FOOD....foolishness! It makes no sense to do time for a loaf of bread. Suck it up, and humble ones self, and ask for it!

As far as not being able to afford a 30 inch plasma TV, the latest ipod, Jordans, computer, or stereo system, and as a result one resorts to crime, that is a whole other kettle of fish.

Haven't read any other posts on this particular topic but I suspect Buju no longer subscribes to those sentiments you quote from his lyric BCK.

Easy, please read this link (http://www.caribyard.com/forums/showpost.php?p=56544&postcount=1) again. I quoted Bounty Killer, not Buju. To my knowledge, Mr. Price still subscribes to this philosophy as reiterated in his work "Look Into my Eyes". He's known as "The Poor People's Governor" because he is said to speak the sentiments felt by the poorer masses. If this is so, then whether he changes his viewpoint over time is irrelevant to the topic at hand, as the views of the people he represented in those songs would not necessarily have changed just because his did.

It's still a valid question. Does poverty justify crime?
