How prevalent is age discrimination in the workplace? Is it fair or justified? How should the issue be dealt with?

yup. i use to be a pc technician at a place and because its mostly 35+ year old people there alot of them didn't want their computer problems to be fixed by a teenager. so what they would do is tell my supervisor that i don't know what i'm doing and ask him to send someone else.

after awhile i told my supervisor that people are calling him before i even assess the problem. when i was sent to do a task and these older folks called my sup he would tell them that no one else is available. some was crazy enough to say thats ok, i'll wait.

When I was in Jamaica I wasn't aware of any age discrimination. As for here in Canada it's not a problem at least not that I am aware of. You see the young and the old working. Even the mentally challenged.

As for discrimination, in my opinion, any form of discrimination is bad and serves no real purpose.
