Hey!!! How come when I am at home I see the old site and when I am at work the site has the colored CY now I have the old way? :( What's wrong?Try to refresh the browser by pressing F5. If that doesn't work, delete the temporary Internet files (browser cache). In IE it's Tools > Internet Options and then click Delete files. Select delete offline content and then OK.

Try to refresh the browser by pressing F5.Ctrl+F5 downloads all the files from the server, instead of taking it from browser cache.

wats up with my response?? :eusa_whis :eusa_whis
and i have another question:
when you see that the site says most users ever online, do they mean members, or members + guests??
Bashment Girl
September 26, 2004, 06:21 PM
This is a quicky! When I look at the members that are on-line.... what do the colours that your screen names are highlighted in mean? Mine is dark red! What's the colour code all about? Is is your RANK so to speak?
This isn't critical I realise... just curious:cool:

Bashment Girl, yup. The different colors are depending on the rank. Regular members are dark red, Moderators are dark green and Admins are blue.

Drew, I believe it does mean members and guests. Chris can correct me if I am wrong.

User Title : Minimum Posts
Fresher : 0
Junior CaribYardie : 50
CaribYardie : 100
Senior CaribYardie : 200
Resident CaribYardie : 400
Long-time CaribYardie : 800
It has been suggested that these were too low and so they may change ;)
thats a good idea u kno AA, ladies get pink guys get blue, whatcha think?? :icon_ideaThis will be impossible to implement since we don't know the gender of each member.
update: made some changes to the user titles and minimum posts

When we register you have to pick a gender.. male or female.. right? I think I did have to do that.

*Arch_Angel sounds the Yardie alarm*
Somebody get the Yardie doctor quick. BG is having hallucinations. In the mean time, give her some space people. Give her room to breath. Get back, get back, get back! No crowding!
*Arch_Angel gets a glass of water for BG.*
How you feeling BG? Doctor soon come.

This is my suggestion for the UPgrading scheme....
Fresher 0-50 posts
Junior Caribyardie 51-150
Caribyardie 151-300
Senior Caribyardie 301-450
Resident Caribyardie 500-800
Citizen Caribyardie (lol) 801-1000
Official Caribyardie 1000 and above
This is just JCB's input still. :eusa_whis

I like the two last names/ranks (citizen and official Caribyardie) ... sounds better than the present highest category (long-time). I think I'll use them along with some of the post count suggestions, with a few modifications. Thanks.
Drew
October 6, 2004, 06:29 PM
i think it should be steeper. cocoa and i are already at the 800 mark.

If you are a Citizen CaribYardie...doesn't that make you Official?:)

If you are a Citizen CaribYardie...doesn't that make you Official?:)Amm ... errr ... :eusa_thin You could say that, but what name would you suggest instead of "official", except VIP, since all persons here are important ;)

OK seriously though, after you become a citizen of a country, unless you become a politician or a diplomat, what else is there?:)
Cocoa
October 6, 2004, 11:36 PM
After you citizenship you become a DIPLOMAT. That's another word I have.
Chris
October 6, 2004, 11:45 PM
"CaribYard Diplomat" ... hmmm ... :eusa_thin
Drew
October 7, 2004, 08:46 AM
Fresher 0-49 posts
Junior Caribyardie 50-199
Caribyardie 200-499
Senior Caribyardie 500-999
Resident Caribyardie 1000-1999
Official Caribyardie 2000 and above
the names don't really matter to me, so i just quoted cocoa's and modified it.
as you can see i'm pretty strict on this.
i don't think you need more than 6 levels at this point. maybe when the site has grown a bit more.

I don't like the term Fresher, I think it should be changed to Visitor.
Ok here is my list:
Tourist 0-100 posts
Visitor- 100 - 250
Immigrant Caribyardie - 250 - 500
Resident Caribyardie 500 - 1000
Citizen Caribyardie 1000 - 2000
Caribyardie Diplomat 2000^

What do I need to do? Try deleting the cache.
TOOLS >> OPTIONS >> PRIVACY
Click CLEAR across from the word CACHE.
Close the browser and try again.
Hope that helps.

Worked perfectly Ramesh. :D Thank you...
And for information purposes, what is a cache?
Arch_Angel
December 12, 2004, 06:23 PM
Each browser has a folder on your computer that it uses to store copies of the web pages you visit. This is called the browser cache. So the next time you go to a website that you visited recently, it loads the pages from the cache, instead of downloading it again. This allows the page to download quicker.
When you want to get the latest version of the web page instead of using the copy, you press Ctrl+F5. The browser downloads the latest version of the file from the site and stores it again in the cache.

Ok, thanks for that info Arch. However, I still have to use IE to visit the Yard. :(
But...but...you told me and ramesh that it works ok. What happened between then and now? :eusa_doh:
Chris, she is saying that when she visits www.caribyard.com she only see the text "CaribYard.com - Caribbean Online Community" and nothing else. She doesn't get redirected to www.caribyard.com/forums/ .
Ramesh and I suggested she clear her cache and try going to www.caribyard.com/forums/ instead, which seemed to work, but now she is saying it doesn't.
Cocoa
December 13, 2004, 05:35 PM
ok...clearing the cache works. However, everyday I have to clear the cache (I hate saying that word), just to come on with firefox.
And I really don't like using Internet Explorer. :eusa_snoo
Arch_Angel
December 13, 2004, 08:02 PM
So it only works when you clear your cache. Sounds very strange.
Try this, type about:config in your address bar. A list of options appear. Scroll down to browser.cache.check_doc_frequency. Double click it. Change the value to 0 and press ok.
Then try and see if that works for you each time you visit CY.

That's how I have my posts organized. The newest post first on the first page.
There's just minor descrepencies with it though. When you click the "Last>>" link on the forum page, it should take you to the last page in the thread, but instead it takes you to the newest post in the thread.
Hopefully they will fix this in the next release. Or soon.
