The Government is planning to increase the tax already placed on gasoline this will see a possible increase in bus fares and a definite increase in gasoline for motor vehicle owners.
What are your views on this issue?
Can Jamaica manage anymore ‘unsanctioned’ tax?
If you are willing to accept the increase tax, what kind of increase would you accept?

If taxes aren't increased where will the Govt. get the money from needed to run the country ?
This is the question that needs to be answered.
I bet if the GOVT decreased the PAYE some more that would bring in more money into their coffers since people would have more cash in hand to spend.
You see apprently when "first world nations" need to raise money they reduce taxes to create a spending splurge and make the free market roll faster.
We do it backways.
The problem is however we have too many people below the TAX threshold so reducing PAYE may not even help since so many people in JA are not elligeble (sp?).

They could start by cutting parliament; I don’t see why we need a minister of tourism, minister of sport, a youth and culture portfolio, minister of local government, why do we have MPs + parish councils + area councilors + region chairmen. All these things are costing us too much; we need to cut some of them.
BTW the tax threshold in Jamaica is about 190 thousand JA dollars, it is sad that if we reduce the income tax so many persons will still not pay because their meager income falls below the threshold.
