I heard on the news tonight that there may be an early election in Jamaica with Portia Simpson replacing the incumbent PJ Patterson as party leader and eventually Prime Minister of Jamaica.

An early election is possible as Portia need to come to the people for her own mandate (though not a requirement). I would not recommend an early election as such an action would play out poorly on her part to show the people the direction in which she plans to take the country. At this point in time it is almost impossible to see my self voting for the PNP. However, if Portia can demonstrate over a period of time that she can unite the country and shift the country’s economic policies to one of prosperity (and not the present 0.5% growth) then it is very possible that she would get my vote. Other than that I would think she is rude to come ask for my vote as she has not said anything or demonstrate any action as to how she is going to get us out of this mess that her party has put us in.
