Not at all. I've returned various items that I've found out to be either deffective, spoiled/spoiling, etc. It's not like you can open the food container in the supermarket to taste it is it's good, so if it's not made properly then it should be returned.

Well actually i bought this at the deli and they do let you sample things. Because they put it in a container for you. but i just took it thinking it was made the way i like it. But it wasnt. Your right about how other food is package there is no way of knowing how it will taste until you get it home. Its not spoiled or anything like that. I just dont like how it taste the flavor is not good to me. anyway I think its ghetto if you are always borrowing items from your neighbor and even asking for personal items.

Ghetto is..... having 3 differnet hairstyles in your head...perm, braids and finger weave all at once.
....standing outside the yard in only a slip and hollering for your son wayyy down the street.
.....having a 1970 car and putting a 2004 rims (spinners) on it.
Chris

IMO Another of those label that is used to create a perception that is not in the best interest of the ppl it is being used on.
I could express it another way but then I would probably be getting very political and I am not in the mood to start another debate :D
The dictionary version:
"A section of a city occupied by a minority group who live there especially because of social, economic, or legal pressure."

You are welcome Greatis. Actually it's kinda good that you asked that question since I wouldn't have really posted under this topic. I don't like labels. I find labels are generally used to keep one group down and build another up. Often times the neither group desevers either label. Ok am off my soap box for this evening :)

It says...a section occupied by a minority group who LIVES there...
In this thread to my understanding, we not talking about the ghetto people, just lifestyles that make you go hmmm...that was ghetto/out of the ordinary.
I would not label especially since I myself is from the ghetto.

i don't think anyone was reffering to ghetto people. they were reffering to ghetto actions. there is a difference.

Actually there isn't a difference Drew. Think about it. Where is the ghetto? Who lives there? If you call a certain action ghetto your implying that...... let me leave that trailing

so let me ask you this. if you saw someone in an uptown mall (chris's suggestion) with curlers and bathroom slippers on, wouldn't you say that person is ghetto?? i know i would. i know people that live in the ghetto and they are more than decent people. thats why i said i'm describing ghetto actions.

No I wouldn't. I may not agree with their lifestyle but I am not going to refer to it as ghetto. By doing so, all we are doing is extending the argument for ppl living in depresed areas. Yes here are decent ppl living in depressed areas, just like up there are indecent ppl living in upscale societies.
Drew
September 16, 2004, 10:01 AM
so you pretty much agree except the part about calling them ghetto, correct??
AngelsKiss
September 16, 2004, 10:06 AM

I agree simply because its not my type of lifestlye. I wouldn't dress that way and I hope no one I am close to would dress that way either. However, I have come to realised that with the exception of a few some ppl who behave that way, do so because they do not really know any better. They see their parents and friends example and they follow.
Oh and another thing, it doesn't matter if it is uptown or downtown.
Greatis
September 16, 2004, 10:15 AM

Drew
September 16, 2004, 10:19 AM

it doesn't matter about uptown or downtown of course, i was just using it in the example.

Thanks Greatis, as long as I don't hit you on the head right? ;)
Drew sweetie, again it doesn't matter, I don't need to label it. Its enough to know that I don't agree with the lifestlye but why should I place a label on it. As I wrote before I don't like labels, since they are generally used to keep one group down and lift another up, neither of which usually deserves the label.
Drew
September 16, 2004, 10:28 AM
well, i guess i you can say that i "label." i had a staff meeting with my manager the other day, his shirt out of his pants, shoes dirty, lacies untied. now i'm going to "label" my manager as a sloppy and not serious about his job coming to a meeting like that.
i pay close attention to detail, and as i see the way someone carries theirselves its easy to figure them out.

Drew saying your manager is sloppy isnt really a label, that's more a description of someone's character. I can understand that, but I just don't support the use of words like ghetto, etc.
If you say those ppl who walk on the streets with their hair in rollers and bedroom slippers are sloppy that would have been ok, but IMO saying their behave is ghetto is unacceptable.
Drew
September 16, 2004, 10:39 AM
ok, so the way they dress i should refer to them as being sloppy oppose to ghetto, gotcha. ;)
but tell me, don't you think the majority of people who dress improperly are bound to have indecent behaviour patterns??

What do you refer to as improperly? If you mean sloppy then yes but not always I think.
Drew
September 16, 2004, 10:48 AM
yea, you're right. i wouldn't describe my boss as improper. his worth ethics suck and his managing is even worse. it complements his dressing.
improper, i mean have multi colour hair, gold teeth(yuck) 5 chains reaching their belts, similar things to that. if your clothes is constantly tidy, but it all depends on the scene.

Does Ghetto have to be impoverished? I for one think "Ghetto" is a state of mind more than anything else.... in the coloquial (sp) terms that is.

Being Ghetto is:
Putting water in the empty ketchup bottle instead of buying a new one
Walking into "Go West" with no intention to buy, while trying on multiple outfits and taking pictures in them to post on CY
Taking a knapsack with Burger King into Carib and eating it next to persons who were planning to go there to eat AFTER the movie
Buying one flex card only at the beginning of the month then skimming the $100 till the following month
Riding the bus steps because you don't want to pay and you only riding till the next two bus stops
Awaiting the 32 bus at the stoplight to hop a ride into cooreville - So guilty of this one.
Riding around with a Manley in your vehicle documents for when Babylon pull you over for speeding.

Twinks....I resent the Carib one. You see how much the man dem a charge fi refreshment? Me and my breggin dem go inna dat arreddy wid bun and cheese and sprite. Belly full for about 100 at the time. Much cheaper than the $120 popcorn and $100 soda! :eusa_naug

Some of these sound like being cheap instead of being ghetto. I fully support the flex card one. Why digicel fi get rich off a me? And the movie thing. . . I haven't bought movie food in about 3 years. . .thank God for big hand bags. . . :D
