Ok. I don't think that persons who are not registered members of Caribyard should be able to see the pictures of the members.
As such I think the permission of the Verandah Section to be set to be viewed by members only. (Only Chris can do this I think).
As it stands it would be better if only the thread can be set to be veiwed by registered members only, but I don't think it can be done with the current forum unless a mod is installed.

I figured it would be of little concern to those that have posted a pic that non-members can view their pictures, since CY is an 'open' community in the first place. Persons that are not registered can still browse as guests and read registered members posts. As well wont the site risk people signing up just to view members pictures and not contributing in anyway to the content?

But this is already happening now. A new person joins everyday, yet when you read threads, it's the same people posting over and over like me!
The pic thing raises a good point though. Appoint a mod and lock it up!

While this is true would you prefer for it to stay as it? Wouldn't you like to protect as least the interest of those who wish to share there pictures in the interest of building 'trusting' friendships on the site.
There is nothing wrong with increase comfort. ;)

However, the permissions can't be set as low as the thread level, it would have to be the corresponding forum. We could always have a members only forum, but would that be worthwhile? what else would be discussed in there?

Instead of having a picture thread, you could add a new forum that deals with pics only. Example: "Picture Frame", "Photo Shop", etc.....
Just my nickel :)

If that is possible through some technical modification, then I say go. But I was under the impression that members who posted their pics didnt mind 'anyone' viewing them. I guess this is not the case.

What's wrong with people looking at pics??? Isn't that the reason why most of us put up pics anyway - for people to LOOK at them. And, I don't think that guests should be restricted in anyway. there is nothing wrong if they wanna browse a bit, see what this site is all about and then decide whether or not they wanna sign up.
