AMERICAN SPRINT legend Michael Johnson believes Jamaica's Asafa Powell is too quiet and track and field is being hurt by such athletes.
"Asafa Powell should be one of the more visible athletes in the sport, but most people probably would not recognise him if they saw him walking down the street," Johnson wrote in the column posted on telegraph.co.uk.

Its understandable why he'd say that, the Americans want a crack at racing him and beating his record while doing it. But in his best interest he should continue to lay low and not burn himself out.

"There should be a furious debate about who is really the fastest man in the world," he said.
- He sounds like all of 13 years old...

...oops sorry, :eusa_shif What was I saying? Oh yeah, this guy sounds so immature. He is quite literally inciting Asafa to start something similar to a chest beating contest. That's so lame... and for a big man like that... laaame. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y142/xenocrates/Smilies/thumbdown.gif

It's rather refreshing to have someone like Asafa Powell in athletics. Laidback is preferable than being too upfront, also when someone foolish keeps quiet it can be counted as wisdom on his part. Michael Johnson should take note...Asafa should continue to let his running performance do his talking on the athletics track. No more than that needs be said.

Yeah thats usually how the cookie crumbles AB.
I usually attend the Penn relays and often wonder why is it that the US is usually some great distance away and the rest of the world is in a bundle fighting for 2nd and 3rd place???

the first time i read this i swore i saw "michael jackson' and i was utterly confused.........especially when i saw the 13yr old thing, anyway............
i think that asafa should be allowed to be queit if he wants to. what if he has crooked teeth or really bad breath??????? i mean, think about it...........
on a serious note, i think that it is commmenable that he is not 'nuff' but probably what michael meant was that he needs to make a greater contribution apart to his country apart from running - like help the youth, feed the hungry, heal the sick..............wait, a nuh jesus.............never mind............
