The IAAF has just been informed by Tissot Timing of an error in the reading of the result recorded by Justin Gatlin (USA) in the 100m at the IAAF Super Grand Prix Meeting in Doha, Qatar on Friday 12 May 2006.

Based on his time recorded after winning the race, Gatlin ran 9.766 seconds for 100m, which was then announced as 9.76 - a new World Record for this distance.

So the rules have allowed 9.766 to be rounded to 9.7 so ASAFA still ranked number 1 then .:D Along with Gatlin.

The good news for Gatlin is that he is a record holder...on the other hand he has to share it with ASAFA :eusa_wall

I wonder what some of you guys would have been saying if the IAAF had readjusted Asafa's time like that? In that case it would have been a conspiracy right? Why the mean remarks? I have never heard of Gatlin badmouthing Mr. Powell. If anyone else had ran and thought they had beaten the world record they would have been hyped and excited too. Mr. Gatlin is still in tip top shape as far as I gather, so dont write him out of the race yet. I am sure Mr. Powell is not letting this timing error get to his head. A good athlete knows he still has to go out there and run a good race regardless.

Blah blah blah

We have heard him, plenty a mornings during Trivial Pursuit, the 7:30 am news broadcasts Gatling jaw jacking which is his 2nd career, Chatting! Running off his mouth.

Asafa is humble, we would gladly forgive him and embrace sake of his humility. Not this bad bwoy, if you have nuff chat yuh fe have nuff backative too.

Plus like the U.S. of A. we too can be "over patriotic" we are standing by our athlete regardless. :eusa_clap We are already counting Gatlin out of the June race. Only our Powell will out perform, out class and beat this loud mouth.

I have never heard of that show, so I will take your word for it. As far as I knew, Gatlin wasnt like the rest of his American team mates; cocky and arrogant so I was a little surprised by the remarks.

By all means stand by your athletes, I never said you shouldnt.

From the couple or so times that I've seen Asafa, he definitely has more in reserves. One commentator referred to him as 'jogging' because of the ease with which he can appear to run.

The weakness he does seem to have (and this could be a concentration deficit problem) is a lack of competitive edge which manifests itself as negative focus and concentratration. This is just a personal observation but I have heard others also pick up on similar traits.

At the end of the day I really think JA currently has the fastest man on the planet, providing he has all the correct support in place so that all he needs to do is to fully concentrate on running at his optimal capability.

Remember, most of the battle is won or lost within one's head. :hyper:
