Let's hear it for the West Indies cricket team who, I think I'm right in saying, won quite convicingly against India in some one day games played recently.

Let's hope their good form continues into the test match proper and that they'll give All of the Caribbean something to cheer about:eusa_clap :eusa_clap :D

Well I haven't come across any serious cricket fan in CY (excluding Easyskanka) but there are MANY serious cricket fans around especially in my workplace.

I remember when they had a Cable TV at work and cricket showing, everybody leaving their work and pack up in front of the TV. The GM eventually disconnected the Cable service :eusa_wall

I must confess that I'm not a great cricket fan, but I do appreciate the occasional good games, and I also love it when the W.Indies do well. It really is a shame to see how many younger folks no longer take much interest in a game where West Indians used to rule the world and might hopefully do so again. :)

I can't watch them when they're losing because of their own indiscipline and team break down. I'll support them when they play their butts off and get it whipped. I know they tried!

I think you guys are too hard on your own. Blackman mentality... if things go wrong, throw your hands up in despair rather than encourage even more vigoursly with passion and enthusiasm. (By blackman I'm generalizing with regard to our collective disposition, not taking a pop at you personally Manu) :)

...like the first ODI match between West Indies and India. Even though Windies lost, they lost trying their best.

But their weakness is a microcosm of the general black disposition. While we criticize the straw in their eye, we often overlook the rafter in our own eye. :)

I see India have began to give the windies a spanking...but don't get downhearted, there's a long way to go yet...Come on the Reggae/Calypso Warriors, we can do it...will power, determination and that battling spirit. :eusa_pray :eusa_clap :D

nah..Easy.. the ARG is a dead track..even a two year old could make a 50 on it. Today we in for a glorious match, You'll see, the best india can hope for s a Draw. We beat over 400 to win on there the last time Australia was here. If we win this. India in trouble for the faster pitches (Sabina and St. Lucia (hopefully) )

Yep, there have been many instances ofthat. .... The team of the 80's early 90's had the swagger and the skills. ... The thing that plauged someo f the present team is that it was all swagger andnot resuslts...a bit disgusting to watch. I think , with the "big man" showing maturity and truly leading ...the teamed has rallied around him. We not world beaters yet.. but we doing good so far this year...

But boy I am a cricket fanatic.. I have not missed a match since 84 (when my feet could not touch the ground when i sat on the old wodden seats) hardly at sabina.. Cricket is a Looooooovley Game man!!

I think India made 500 plus in their second innings which gives them q lead of 400 plus. Windies need to a score over 400 to win.... but they've done it before on that ground in 2003 and made 417 which is the highest successive run chase to date. I think they need 407 to win. Let's see if they can do.

This all positive vibes for the World Cup. I guess they finally realized that the host needs to stick around for a few rounds :eusa_wall

Ahh.. mr. Manu, the eternal pessimist...cheer up man...a wah du yu..eee? :) Seriously though Manu, You must learn to take the game as a whole...there are important lessons to be learned through games...The highs are great, but we've got to learn to deal with the lows as well and persevere with/through them.

When and if you become a parent...please be very encouraging of your children even when they don't do as well as you would sometimes want...because the fact of the matter is... If your disenchantment with them is tranferred onto them...then their spirit is going to be a negative one... and that is only going to serve to bring them down even further...Such is life. Always look on the bright side of life whenever you can. Jesus said as much...and they don't come any better than HE.:icon_mrgr

STR8!!

I hear yah. I think they decided from yesterday that they were playing for a draw. Thet realised that risking to chase 400 could cost them wickets early so they played rather defensive.....too defensive for the most part. They shoudl be glad they got the draw.

Sri Lanka drew with England in a 3 match series...England were expecting to easily turn over the Sri Lankans...but their spinner Murly (I can'y spell his full name, sorry),put them right back in the match, taking 8 wickets...:icon_eek:

They were skittled out for not many runs...don't know the exact figures, as to the test matches, maybe master roda can answer that for you...he's a self confessed cricket nut. :)

world cup is one day matches...with all those teams it would prolly take a year to get all those matches done if it were to be test matches

West Indies players threatening industrial action

BASSETERRE, St Kitts (AFP): Members of the West Indies team chosen for the third Test against India, starting at Warner Park on Thursday, have given the West Indies board until Wednesday to settle matters related to their contracts or face some kind of "industrial action."

Although the players' association and the Windies board have settled their long-running dispute over retainer contracts, the players have been playing the current series against Rahul Dravid's side without either a retainer or match/tour contract in place.
