It wasn't too long ago that the theme all over was "Say No to drugs".
These days, you turn on the radio or watch the TV and hear/see songs about "I get high", "High grade", "Purple pills" etc. Why is drug use being glamourized so much these days? Whatever happened to "Just say no"?

Cause drugs is easily accessible now adays. You can get it for free, no one wants to say NO anymore.

Also when you say drugs do you mean prescription drugs? Cause they can be abused and turned into common drug abuse.

the sad part is, even cleaning products are being used.

I mean saying no to drug abuse.

Even if drugs are more accessible these days, that still doesn't warrant the widescale advertisements that are going on. Way back when, songs with certain content were banned from the airwaves. Now, in prime time radio you hear all sorts of songs promoting drug use and other unsavory things. When/How/Why did things change so drastically?

This is typical of society's change for the worse ... slowly climatising us to drugs, violence and sex until we're at the point when we don't even realise what is what.

Chris hit the nail on the head. Society is like that, its similar to when back in the days when being gay was the worst crime in Jamaica, now society has changed and they now have clubs and organisations publicly defending them.

Its a shame society can be like this at times.

the same question could be asked in regards to the derogatory comments being made about women in songs.

I can't get used to turning on my radio and hearing them juggle "weed" tunes over and over. I mean, come on now. How are parents supposed to fight that kind of indoctrination from the media?

Also, in todays age of information on the harmful effects of drugs, alcohol and tobacco, why is it that young people are still blindly picking up these habbits and glamourizing them? Don't they care about their own health?

What worries me is how the media is marketing drug use as "cool" to the youth of today. I include alcohol in that as well. I still can't believe I hear "weed tunes" on the radio. If the entertainers are promoting drug use, it's no wonder that kids are latching onto these things from earlier and earlier.

Then there's the drinking and the driving... bwoy...

Rehabilitate them Leina that's the word we need more imput from the government on this. They should be treated like how the mad people are treated. (or should be treated rather). Taken off the street and put into some Asylum

"high grade is going through my head
And that is the reason why my eyes are turning red..."

trus mi man, that man's voice was good. so i can see how ANYBODY christian or non christian coulda have one ah those tunes stuck in them head.

"Marijuana pon di corner, keep mi calmer mek mi smarter"

- a lie from the pit of hell i tell u, i neva met a "smart weedhead" (thas an oxymoron!! no pun intended!) i know i'm young in age but i was taught well to denounce anything that does not improve ppl, including these popular songs and the ppl that uphold such.

LOL. Sorry, but I can just imagine how you all must have felt when you realized what he was singing about. :rotflm:

You really do have to be careful about what you let influence you.
