Yes boss. The PM put the island in a State of Emergency to give the police the powers he perceived they would need to keep criminal activities under control in the wake of the hurricane Ivan.

Yup. Because of the pitiful looters.

I think I heard on the news that the State of Emergency may soon be ceased but I'm not sure when.

These looters are crazy though, a friend of my mother; his hardware was cleaned out, not even a screw or a nail they left behind. nothing at all. these guys are harsh

The state of emergency will last a month, from the day it was put into effect.

Not sure what you mean. If what will really happen?

"The state of public emergency will stay in force up to a month, unless extended by Parliament. It allows wide powers to the security forces, without the usual constitutional restraint and protection of individual freedoms."

PS The state of emergency is just in place for certain volatile areas. Not the entire Island as has been previously stated.

Do you think that is was wise that the Prime Minister called for "The State of Emergency" at the time that he did?
