I have had my hair texturized for the last 2 and a half years.
Pros
-Texturizers arent as harsh as permanents on your hair, because they dont straighten the hair like permanents, but allow the hair to go curly with activating lotion.
-All of you have to do to for daily maintenence is apply some mosturizing curl activating lotion. The Sof n' Free brand is a good one to use. No curling pins or curling irons are required for daily maintenance.
_I have found my hair is alot more healthier and it hasnt been damaged since I texturized.
Cons
You would have to cut off all of your relaxed hair and go extremely short, since the ideal texturized look is very short. Some women dont like going that short.
You would have to keep cutting it short to maintain the look, not allowing it to grow out too much. If you do you will look as though you have a jerry curl.
Good luck.

Acutallly you don't have to cut off your hair to texturise. I have very long hair and texturise for years until last year. I don't texturise now only because the salon that I go to don't seem to use a texturiser. Instead they use a relaxer but only process my hair very lightly.
I can just wash and air dry my hair and its curly. Everyone seems to like it.
If you do use a texturiser it requires moisturing so make sure you use a good leave in moisteriser.

So that is how it looks with long texturized hair, I was always told you had to keep it short for the ideal look. Not bad.
You would have to cut off your relaxed hair I have been told , and then simply grow it out as long as one wants, since relaxed hair is permanently straight. If you dont, you will end up with ends that are staight while the rest of you hair is curly.

cool...how do they texturise it?? I heard that its just regular relaxer that they use, only they don't comb it thru.. Is this true, or is the texturizer different from the relaxer?

Well it said texturizing relaxer on the bottle and my hairdresser combed through it once right before she was about to wash it out.......and its dandy!!!! it smell stink thought....or like heavy chemical....and will affect you more than 'relaxer' if your scalp is sensitive.......but look into it:)

Hey, does anyone know any good hair salons in Kingston where I can get my hair texturized? (Salons that won't make my hair fall out or 'accidently cut 5 inches off my hair). So far salons in kgn have been letting me down so I haven't relaxed my hair in the past year. Couple sessions in therapy seemed have finally cured me after that Salon Splurt 'incident' and I'm ready to try a salon in kgn again. Does anyone know any? Tell me plz plz plz :hyper:
