Well you can PM Chris or another Mod and express your opinions if you think they abusing their privileages.

Actually No. One of the forum rules states that and I quote:


The Moderators reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread with or without reason or notice. Polite enquiries via the Private Messaging system will be responded to. Any form of harassment will not be tolerated and may result in banishment from the site.

This is one of the rules we ALL agreed to when signing up for CY. This is not about being lazy.

In response......the reason why BCK close the thread was obvious. The thread had served his purpose. Some members just forced his hands to actually go ahead and do it. If the argument was so compelling then there are countless other threads to voice your problems.

- Abuse of power is relative. It is pointless to explain every act of moderation as it will defeat the very purpose of that act in the first place. Moderators see what average users don't. Some of the things they see are best kept "off-the-air" so as to preserve the smoothest forum experience possible.

I'm sure you wouldn't want to see some member running amok using foul language at every corner, picking on people, or using a thread to further some personal agenda - would you? That would just make people who are on the fence about signing up less interested in visiting the forum. Would you sign up on a forum where the rule is "Anything Goes"? I thought not. You'd become fodder for the nearest obnoxious twat faster than you can click the reply button.

It is therefore imperative that we show confidence in our moderators by abiding by their rulings - even when the intent is not absolutely clear. If that is not to our liking, we are free to leave. No one is asking us to stay. There are other sites out there, such as www.offtopic.com which facilitate rogue users. However, the mods at that site are some merciless Nazi Pricks. You can get banned just for saying the wrong thing about someone's favourite president - even if you are polite about it - and you guys think our mods are abusing their power? :dwl:

We are getting away with blue murder on this site. If you think our moderation is harsh, you haven't seen jack yet. The moderation here is so light that in comparison to other forums I've visited, it's like it doesn't even exist. Be grateful. I see no abuse of power here. Just people complaining about anything that doesn't go their way. ;)

What I like about CY:

Everything, the good, the bad and the savvy. I can get a fair dose of intellectual intercourse, unintelligent discourse, and everything in between while I learn about the things that drive human nature. For me, this is a fun way to learn about the things that make people tick.

What I dislike about CY:

Nothing. CY is almost like my official Skinner Box. I like the fact that every type of mouse is in the box - from obnoxious troglodytes to cultured aristocrats. :icon_mrgr It's a nice representative cross section of our social domain (with demographic percentages intact), that makes for a very interesting study of our culture.
