A weh u deh Rooty? All tertiary instituitions (including Exed and Mico) get a discount. Not sure how much though. When it was 410, I used to pay 290 wid my ID. Prices gone to 450 so you may pay like $320. And one catch... only available for matinees... i.e.. the evening showings...like 4:30 - 6pm.

They do the whole discount thing at Sovereign? Cos I have never been to Carib and I don't plan on going. Well I pay 225 on Tuesdays which still less than any discount so I will stick to Tuesdays :D.

Bare laughing.... and the people even clapped when it done. Wicked Wicked Wicked. I feel like I want to go watch it again. Rooty... is $320 as I told you before.

It was ok. Can't say it's my favorite. It may be due to the fact that I watched it around 4 in the morning and I was a bit tired. Maybe the big screen experience will be better. Manu. . . I'm still sticking to Tuesdays, nothing nuh cheaper than that.

Supposed to but I think you have to go for the 5pm showing. If not, they have two for one at Sovereign but you have to make sure that you are there way before 5 in order to get a ticket.

This movie SUCKED!!!

Manu, you should be SHOT, HANGED, EVISCERATED, DISEMBOWELED, DECAPITATED, DROWNED IN ACID and THEN made to walk the plank. Arrrgh!

Are you serious my yute? That movie was the single most drawn out, convoluted, incohesive, nearly-3-hour, too-many-plots-for-a-single-story, explosion at the genre-factory, load of computer generated CRAP I've seen since Ang Lee's Incredible Hulk.

I mean, I LOVE CG movies. And even though the girl next to me was showing incontrovertible signs of inimitable BOREDOM, I could not cheer her spirit. The movie was WEAK! WEAK you hear me? WEEEEAAAAK!!!

Thank God I didn't shell out for box.

What I liked:

The Computer Generated Imagery - The wide shots when the two ships duelled on the perimeter of the maelstrom was hot. The exploding giant black girl and the crab wave in Davy Jones' locker were both hot. Too icky for my friend - but I'm a guy, and I certify that the Spec Effx were Hot! I wouldn't expect anything less from George Lucas' Industrial Light and Magic.

What I disliked:

Everything else. The plot sucked. The story sucked. The entertainment value was sporadic and the film took TWO HOURS to build up to anything worth calling "swash buckling". All of the scenes from the trailer were from the last 35 minutes of the film - including the credits. There were simply TOO many plot threads to follow - and it got so overbearing that most of the audience was just waiting for the next comic relief. You could tell. It was BO-RING.

Conclusion

Even though Shrek the third sucked righteous @$$, it was a HELLUVA lot better than this twisted confuzzlement of blades, exploding wood, talking parrots and fiesty capuchins. Save you money and PIRATE this mother. Bootleg for the win!

Aha! I'm soooo smart then. . hehe. Anyway, I still have to go watch it in the theatre again because I promised my friend that I would. I thought the reason I didn't like it very much was because I watched it around 4am. But, now I see it wasn't my tiredness at all. . .the movie really did suck.

Doa give a rat's monkey what Xeno said. The movie was wicked..... and it answered all questions without some mombom jumbo crap like that other 3rd installment. I enjoyed it.... every last minute of it. The people in the theatre made it a whole lot better. Special effects were the bomb! Story-line was good... it flowed well (again unlike that other 3rd installment) and there weren't too many plots. I never once was confused. Unlike..... aww you get the point.

PIRATES FOR THE WIN! I bet you it will be the highest grossing film this summer..... I dare ya.... I double dare ya....

C'mon we never expected much from Shrek ;) ... it was sufficiently satisfying considering all factors... Pirates on the other hand was a torture session... the couple beside me was falling asleep and kept nudging each other, and the only reason i stayed awake was to see if the guy would nudge the girl hard enough at any point to have her take offense and start a fight in the theatre... that was as much suspense, drama, and comedy as i got out of my pirates experience.

PIRATES FOR THE WIN! I bet you it will be the highest grossing film this summer..... I dare ya.... I double dare ya.... - Simple minds are amused by simple things. Concordantly, the number of complex minds in the universe is FAR outweighed by the number of simple ones. Thus, I do certify, that you are quite right. In fact:

DUH!

Just cuz a movie rocked the box office, it doesn't mean that it's awesome. Take The Matrix: Revolutions for example. 700 mill at the box office. Still had a suck ending. Go figure.

-[Edit]-

If I'll say one thing in the defence of the film: The trance remix of the sound track is not bad at all. :)

It was the same in the theatre as it was on my computer. I wasn't very impressed. On the upside, I got to see the ending after the credits. . .an extra 30 secs or so of Orlando Bloom :hyper:. Most people got up and left. I don't think they value their money's worth half a much as I do.

I was deeply disappointed with Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and therefore I had no intention of seeing a part 3. Going to watch Spider Man over the weekend, don’t think it’s going to be as bad as Pirates , fingers crossed 

That statement is a shocker coming from you. I remember you saying over TJ that this movie was "perfect". :eusa_thin

Manu

Matrix was good.... all 3. It's just because it cause some people to think... they bashed it.... then LOTR 3 came and just blowed away the whole movie experience. While watching spidey... I couldn't wait till it was over. Like when about 20-30 mins was left. I didn't want Pirates to end. I thought they were gonna meet up at the "Aqua de Vida"... because I never thought they could/would be another installment.

Xenocrates

That statement is a shocker coming from you. I remember you saying over TJ that this movie was "perfect". :eusa_thin - Don't misquote me. I said that Part 2 was awesome. But I DID say that part 3 was a let down as the ending was not easily deciphered by lay audiences - unless they had a degree in philosophy. ;)

I'm glad you enjoyed Pirates Manu. I just get bored easily. If a movie's plot doesn't hold me in the first five minutes, I don't care how much special effects it has, I won't care how it ends. Plot is everything.

Manu
June 1, 2007, 03:03 PM
Spidey had lots of plot....tonnes..... and then still tried to add to it. WHY?! So many damn comics to get a decent storyline. Those writers suck at summary writing.

Maybe you should've re-watched part two like a week before to fully grasp it. I saw part two couple times before.... hence why I think the story flowed seemlessly.
