Enter in the details as follows:

Nickname: Your CaribYard user name.
Realname: Same as your nickname or enter your real name if you want.
Channel: #caribyardchat

Click Login to enter the chat.


We will be using the free IRC (Internet Relay Chat) Server for our chat room, as we have used in the past. They have an easy to use chat interface, so you can use any web browser to join the chat.

Those of you using Pidgin (http://pidgin.im/pidgin/home/) (aka Gaim) or mIRC (http://www.mirc.com/) or any other IRC client can also join in, using the details below.

Server: irc.servercentral.net
Port: 6667
Channel/Room: #caribyardchat

If you guys have any problems with it, please let me know in this thread and I'll try to help you.

IMPORTANT: Because this room isn't registered on the server, anyone who enters the room first, will automatically be given moderator status. Please, if you are the first in the room, keep your moderator status until I come in. :)

Chris has a strict guideline on what chat software he is willing to install. This one came close to integrating well with the forums, but still wasn't perfect. Also, Chris is holding out for something better (a blogging/social software) that integrates well with the forums.

So...we will have to make do, with what we have. :)
Unless you all can come up with something better.

They are general related question, but would really love if we have something more local, to the Caribbean and to CY.

So guys, PM me as many questions, with their respective answers and I'll add them to the trivia. It can be anything really. Just as long as the answer is not some long paragraph. :)

Why hit out at something you have never tried? At the moment, since our last chat last year, manu is the top trivia master with the most scores. It was hilarious and fun when we have 10 people competing to answer the questions correctly.

There is also hangman that can be played as well.

Ok, since A_A won't be able to comment on the chat (being a no-show), lemme say that it was wonderful. We started off with the usual irc client but some folks were having issues with it. We then moved over to gabbly, which was easier to use. We had a fairly good chat, me homey and silentburn were the last three (we jus finish). There was this one idiboo commenting once every 1/2 hr bout chat boring, and di boo boo not saying anything. And to make it worse, A_A come cuss mi off chu wi switch from di irc.crap?! Anyway, as mi seh, chat was a-ok. :)

Ok, since A_A won't be able to comment on the chat (being a no-show),I came to the irc chat at 10pm. 3 of you guys were in there not saying 1 thing. After 45 mins, I decided to leave. Wasn't really planning to go to 2 different other chat rooms to find who chatting where.

Apologize to everyone for the problems you had connecting to the IRC. Don't know why it is giving such a problem. :eusa_wall

This isn't the first time this site has had a chat event, for those of you new to CaribYard. We have moved away from msn chat in the early days, to the irc chat. Irc chat has worked for the event many times, albeit, 1 or 2 persons had problems connecting.

It also allowed us to play games and have competitions using bots.

For those of you, that say the time was inconvenient, you are in the minority. Majority of persons voted in a public poll that saturday evening was the best time for them to be online and chat. We can try working with the next best available day that most will be on, but that's the most that can be done.
