In the relationship who is smarter? Are you smarter than your mate or do you believe your mate is smarter? Do you think men have a problem with women being smarter? And if you are a women do you play down your intelligence to your man?

Single at the moment but I think me and my ex were both intelligent in different ways though. I think I was more book smart where he was more street smart or people smart if you get me! Anyway...

Do you think men have a problem with women being smarter?

No they don't because they don't think any women are smarter than them lol...lol.. :p

And if you are a women do you play down your intelligence to your man?

NEVER! That's a no no! I think I may leave certain things alone and let him see things on his own... but I never act like a ditz, or "down play" my intelligence, just to make a man feel like big willy! If I have to do that for him to want me.... I need to bounce! STRAIGHT!

In life You are either the player or the game. I have been played some much so far it has made me wiser, in every relationship, Platonic and otherwise.

I think we are both smart individuals. I cannot say who is over who.

In the relationship who is smarter?

- The one who keeps their mouth shut most often.

Are you smarter than your mate or do you believe your mate is smarter?

- About the same.

Do you think men have a problem with women being smarter?

- Only if they're intimidatable by women. Personally I hate ditzes. They're dull and boring. Gimme a female rocket scientist anyday. I find smart chicks to be far more satisfying company in every conceivable way. If she's smarter than me, that makes it even better. Nothing beats learning new things from a girl who enjoys your company...so long as she doesn't consider it an act of competition (as one female I've mentioned to Gillion has tried to do).

I believe he is but I think we are compatible intelligence wise, because we dont try to dominate each other as far as knowing more. If he knows its fine and if I know its ok also. So we equally work at that in the relationship.

I would say we were both smart but of course in our own unique way. If their is a difference in intelligence I think that it should/does compliment the other's.

If you believe that you are smarter than your mate, are you prepared to accept the possibility that maybe their decision to be with you wasn't a smart one? :eusa_shif

the funny thing about this is no vice versa is included.
would women have a problem with the man being smarter??
would men downplay their intelligence to make his partner feel comfortable??

Nope, no problem with men being smarter. As a matter of fact that would be a criteria for me to date a man. I want to be around some one I can not only learn from but I can debate with as well.

I have a very good friend whom I love dearly and who I call a walking encyclopedia and if I don't know something I could always go to him. He once told me that it was his brain I love and not him, probably true too :)

Upon what criteria can you base the judgement of who is smarter? Someone can be a rocket scientist, but make dumb choices in their life (doing drugs, or gambling). Someone can be a simple janitor who can't speak fancy words, but has great wisodom and understanding about life.

Why does it have to be competition in the relationship over who is smarter?

If everyone wanted a smarter companion than themselves and didn't want to compromise on that, nobody would get hooked up...
