I attended about three years ago, wasn't impressed at the finale. The parade was not organized very well. Glad I went though for the experience.

:icon_lol:@ not organized when there's a complete itinerary there over two weeks long of every official event taking place surrounding the Caribana celebrations. :rotflm:

I don't know what people mean by it's not organized, as someone who was in mass every year until I was like 18 years old I can tell you everything is planned and organized even, and especially the actual parades themselves. However like any show or entertainment event ... there will always be a little chaos. There's Caribana booklets telling people about the floats, routes, starting points, finishing points etc etc etc there's police and whoever around guiding and directing however most people IGNORE said personnel and do their own thing .... so I dunno how the events themselves aren't organized:confused::icon_neut

On top of the official city events & parade there are boat cruise parties, stage shows, dances, fetes and all kinda of things for like 2 weeks... many artist reach up here like hip hop, soca, reggae, dancehall, calypso, jazz, R&B, soul, neo-soul and all kinds of music because there's a long weekend and the Caribana it's self brings in massive amounts of people from all over the world for about a 2 week span, that want entertaining..... so there's things going on that I haven't event posted you'd have to go to www.torontolime.com for some parties or www.flow935.com will have things too.

I was talking about the actual float parade, and not the entire itinerary of events. Still it is my opinion the actual parade could have been better organized (floats, dancers, etc.), and better policed especially, at least the year that I attended. I was told by alot of folks that the quality of the parade has gone down in recent years as well. Maybe the organizers need to go back to the original formula.

I hear you ... I overstand it's only an opinion still ...

It's been taken over by the government now, so it's becoming less about Caribbean culture over the years and more about tourism and a bag of other stuff with a Caribbean theme .... so yea it's changed for the worse IMO ... but it's like anything in life .... as it changes people a lot of people who are used to it say it's getting worse & prefer the old way; While many others, and especially many people new to it still love & enjoy it. The Parade is still fun to most people, there's still a lot of cultural events going on... anyone who's never been before should go at least once to experience it. People who aren't even that much into Carnival can come and experience other things, and whoever just love to party there's lots of stuff gwanin.

IMO - it's the best 2 weeks to be in Toronto, The Greater Toronto Area, and the Majority of Southern Ontario PERIOD.
