Seventh Day Adventist. I'mNOT in total agreement with the running of the church... at a conference level and some church levels but that I believe is a corruption of man...and not God's word. I've seen other religions and listen to people's experience and I believe that if there is a God, and He is truly like the Jehovah which we all have come to know... then the SDA has the closest thing at present to what worshipping him should be like. (Let the flaming beginning )

P.S. if you have a problem with my post, copy and paste it and start another thread so as not to corrupt this one and stray away from it's purpose. Thank you.

What is strange is that the question did not ask what denomination, but what religion. No one answered the question properly.

Most Jamaicans do not know the difference.

It is a form of functional ignorance that causes strife and contempt within the Christian community.

they usually are, but not in the way one may want them to be answered.

Ofcourse....the point of this thread is for people to state what religion they are. If someone wants to make a thread abt what denominations, fine. If people come in this thread and say what denomination they are, fine. That is also welcomed, so why make an issue out of it?

Timely thread, was thinking about going back to church and fully give my life over to Christ. Was planning to start a thread about which church to go to. I think I will start that thread soon.

Hey, maybe we could, but I was thinking an SDA church. Once had a neighbour that was into the seven day thing, so I was leaning more towards that church, but I’m still open to suggestions. Is there something about that church that I need to be aware of?

The church itself.... in terms of it's beliefs...the basis for it and it's religious practices are pretty much flawless.... if you believe there is God and that his characteristics are of a certain nature. It's just the day-to-day running of it that has it's problems... especially when it comes to power and stewardship.

I have a problem with church because they fail to realized that not only is God all loving and merciful, he also created all things.... and not just good.

I try not to speak ill of any church still, but before i did my search i got guidance that there were just certain things that were required, and thats how i narrowed my choices.

But right now still I'm in need of some fellowship and praise and worship. My church doesn't have praise and worship and not enough people my age to kick it with if u get my drift.

But when you ready, PM me and we'll roll. Are you even in Kingston?

You're welcome dude.

The best advice I can give when it comes to finding the right church, is to earnestly pray to God for guidance, and let Him lead you to the right one. Lean not on your own, or other people's understanding, but let God's wisdom point you in the right direction.

You don't need a four wall concrete structure to affirm your Christianity. Spirituality can be a personal journey. Don't become over-consumed with trying to find a church, because there are other ways in which to fellowship with other like minded individuals. Things like volunteering and clubs. Some Christians become so consumed with the tradition of church on a Sunday or Saturday morning, that the very mandate of Christianity is lost. It becomes replaced with ritual and ceremony.

Most believers.... not just SDA... find it hard to believe that God created both good and evil and that he is not all good. He does evil but because He is God, He can do whatever He wants... good and/or evil and that we should just be happy that he is merciful to us and spares our lives. Ask Xeno to explain it better.... that's his area.

The church itself.... in terms of it's beliefs...the basis for it and it's religious practices are pretty much flawless.... - That's debateable.

if you believe there is God and that his characteristics are of a certain nature. It's just the day-to-day running of it that has it's problems... especially when it comes to power and stewardship. - I've yet to see a congregation that doesn't have this problem. In fact, it has nothing to do with the church in and of itself, and is much more relative to a flaw in human nature.

I have a problem with church because they fail to realized that not only is God all loving and merciful, he also created all things.... and not just good. - Actually, that's the problem with Christianity in general. Allow me to explain:

:icon_arro Mead

While I think the SDAs comparatively got most of it right, there are still some fundamental flaws with the faith which make it an all but completely illogical one. Christianity is an anthropomorphic cult that is strewn with contradictory teachings and other idealogical difficulties. But that's an issue for another thread. More importantly, I say that to advise you not to hone in on any specific denomination because that'll only colour your understanding of the faith. See what Bahama Mama wrote (http://www.caribyard.com/forums/showpost.php?p=132418&postcount=26). Your walk has to be personal, otherwise a bunch of people who say they're christians will want you to latch on to the church or denomination of their own personal taste with no justifiably objective reasons for doing so.

What you need to understand, mead, is that anyone who purports their specific denomination as a suggestion for you to visit is not helping you along the path you need to go. You have to find Jesus independently of any congregation. It doesn't have to be pentecostal or Seventh Day Adventist. Otherwise you will be taught a lot of things which simply aren't true - most of it invented by man to suit their own personal agenda. If, God forbid, you should run into this problem and the denomination fails you, you may become disenchanted and thus loose interest, as I've seen lots of young folks do. A lot of what is being taught in Christianity today is not Bible proof. So if you're not prepared to make this a personal walk, then don't bother. Otherwise you're going to find yourself running head long into a lot of tough questions that nobody has an answer for.

Find Jesus on your own. If you need somebody to pray with, then you have a multitude of people here to call on. However, the selection of a body of worship should be of your own choosing. Good luck. ;)
