I usually wondered why the day after Christmas was celebrated as boxing day...
This article in the Gleaner indicates that this is a British tradition where they put the left over food (from Christmas day) in boxes and hand out to less fortunate people. In Jamaica we see that as an insult and as such we celebrate Boxing day in a different way, another day to have fun with family and friends and party.

I'm happy for the extra day..

Really? I always thought it was the sport... and we should really do something like that. I mean lord knows a nuff food left over. If not all, then some?

Why waste extra food? Better to give it to someone who needs it, instead of throwing it away. Christmas is a time for giving, of helping those less fortunate than yourselves.
