Well, I guess they mainly do it to cover up the truth. They don't want others to know the truth.

Cause some women act as if only men CAN lie.

Why do some women lie about their age?
Cause they don't want to show their true self or let anyone know how old/young they really are. I like to ask people to guess then I let them know.

Why do some women lie about their previous relationships?
Maybe its a cover up or a fear of reuining a certian reputaion.

Why do some women lie by :
- wearing false hair, nails, eyelashes, etc. (too obvious, why lie?)
- padding their bras (to boost breast size and give the impression that their good sis really that large.)
- crying to get sympathy and divert attention from whatever indescretion they have committed. (a woman we name....some think there is a strong need for this)

Imagine you meet a girl and she looks fabulous. You get married, and the wedding night comes. When everyone is in their natural state, she looks different - different hair, different eyes (down to the eye colour), different skin tone, no padding, etc.

The net effect is, the physical appearance of the person you thought you knew is in reality not what was originally presented to you. You were initially attracted to a false image. Now of course, if you love the person, then you would be loving more than just the physical appearance, but if that was false, it can start the wheels of doubt rolling in your head..."What else has she been false with?" :eusa_thin

The example I used is kindof an extreme, but the point is, many people (not just women) hide their true self behind some made up image.

In the scenario u mentioned earlier with the man and woman and the man told the truth. In a case like that men would normally lie so as to avoid the drama (the hissy fits and the crying) with the woman. That's what i meant.

Well lies are usually told to avoid incriminating ones self. Sometimes, lies are told to avoid hurting people, when one assumes that the person being lied to, can't handle the truth. Lies are also told when one feels there is something to gain out of telling the lie.... there are lots of reasons.

Having said that... I do not believe that anything mentioned above is restriced to the behaviour of males ALONE!
