Does a woman or mans weight matter? Are some women dieting to much and are too concerned about their weight. My fiance is 5'4in and she weighs 115pds. I say she could use a few pounds here or there and she still wouldnt be overweight. Now Im not going to break up with her because she wont gain a few pounds. I like round woman and she knows that, but I love her to my heart.
Why do woman feel that if they are not a certain size they are unattractive?

As long as you are healthy, your actual weight shouldn't be an issue.

Women feel that way because the media and society makes them feel that way.
Whatever culture you are in, people will always have culture specific insecurities in regards to what is presumed a mark beauty and desierability within said culture.
In Jamaica big women are delicious to our society and mawga is repulsive.
A skinny girl in Ja will buy fowl pills.
In America mawga is delicious to their society and big is repulsive.
A fat girl in a america will starve herself.
Take sub cultures withn a culture.
White women want big lips.
Black women want long hair.
White women hate having big butts.
Black woman love having a big butt.
In Japan some girls colour their skins brown so they can be BLACK.
Others... go through treatments to whiteen their skins.

LMBO...Gillion I have to say you are one of my favourite poster :)
However, are you saying Jamaican men would find me repulsive? I am slim (not as slim as I use to be, which was really slim, 94lbs), am not dark, nor white, I don't have big butt, I do have long hair, I have big lips, not extra big, but big enough :)
OMG...this is too funny :icon_mrgr

Some women just like to stay in shape and be healthy. I dont like to neglect my body and I try and exercise and eat right. Some women are overweight because of depression or some medical problems. I have plenty of time to get fat when I old and living with my fat old man. :)

Question: If a person is overweight for the above reason, is that offensive to you? Or what is your take on it?

I am not offended by people who are fat and have weight problems. I would be more concerned if anything. If I have a family member who is slightly overweight then I can help them. But being grossly overweight then that may call for a doctors help to getting some type of medication or maybe gastric surgery.
I think women need to take better care of themselves because of alot of other things can cause problems when you are fat. Your heart has to pump that much more for your body. Some people are very content with their size, but it doesnt mean its a good thing. If a woman has not had any children and she is able to exercise and doesnt have any health related problems. Then I would say she has low self esteem or she is just lazy to help herself.
I have friend who are overweight to me, but they dont think that they are overweight. But they are weighing 180 to 250 and 5'3 to 5'6 maybe in height. I think they are mistaken about their weight, but I dont disown them. I just say maybe we should get a salad or eat this or that. When Im out with them, but ultimately its their choice to be that way.

What is considered to be overweight?
May sound like a stupid question but I asked because when I was in the military, they had weight, height and body standards to live by. I weight 160 at the time considereing muscles and their standard for my age and height was suppose to be 146. Ridiculous because they knew I would never gone there. However, my body mass % was below 30 which was the standard therefore I was fine and I passed every test and could perform as a soldier...run, walk, jump, situps, push ups whatever.
So it is all about a balance. I am naturally a thick woman and I love who I am. I weigh abit more than 160 now due to this and taking steroids (medication) but I am healthy. If everyone in the looked like a stick man then the variety in the world would be lacking and the world would be boring.
So I wanted to know what is considered as overweight to CYardies?

Glancing through the channels last night I came accross ABC's Home Delivery. The story was on an 800lb woman who never left her home to go outside and was mainly confined to her chair.

What I find funny is that Slim ppl seems to get as much derision as overweight ppl and for many slim ppl there is nothing they can do about their weight nor should they if it's not a health threat.
Whether ppl are overweight or not it's their business. For ppl who are overweight, the most we can do is give them as much love, support and encouragement as we can. For slim ppl, if they want to be slim, its also their business, and for us to call them all kinds of negative names is just plain ridiculous.

Anything that limits mobility or doesn't allow you to perform on a daily level...that's overweight.
However recognising the issue and moving forward or even putting forth an attempt is also good.

Lookup Body Mass index on Google. That's the formula used to determine if you are within the correct weight range for your height.

Is apperance in terms of weight(whether slim or thick) important to both sexes? If so, why?

I think weighing a 160 to 180 for a woman is excessive. If your not pregnant why would you want to carry around so much extra body fat.
There is no real answer from people who are overweight. But they do find fault with people who are slim to justify why they are carry around those pounds.

You make it sound as if all people always choose the weight they are at. That's not how it works. Sure people have a choice to eat and excercise as they wish, but things like genetics, disease conditions (eg. thyroid problems) and other factors help to determine the weight of a person. There are some factors over which people have no control.
Some people are big but fit. That is, they may be heavy, but based on their body-mass index and/or their genetics, it's ok for them. They are healthy. The weight doesn't cause cholesterol problems or other ailments.
Be that as it may, the attitude which many people have toward overweight people makes them feel uncomfortable and unhappy. That doesn't help anybody.
There will come a time when you are not in the ideal physical condition. You may even have a weight problem one day, especially as you age and your metabolism slows down. Bear your comment about justifying your weight in mind when that day arrives.
People should worry less about the appearance and more about the fitness. Persons also need to be more sensitive to peoples feelings and not generalize.

Since you had directed your response to me, I totally agree and would answer with what BCK said. You have to take those factors into consideration. And like I said, if every woman in the world were stick men, then there would be no variety and the world would be a boring place.
Also, if you read what I had said before about the situation I was in when I was in the military, I weighed over the requirement yet, my body mass was below the desired amont....so I could still do all that everyone did. Filled with more muscles than fat. So you have to take that into consideration also.
Why do you think tastee the world should have all the women at one set weight? that is boring and unrealistic.
Someday when you get pregnant if you haven't already had a child, and you see the weight, you will understand. Or when age and maturity sets in, and you have a little extra unwanted pounds and you trying to loose it and it won't leave, then you will understand.
Being overweight in irregular pounds can be addressed with excersice and so on. However, knowing nd loving you is very important. Maintaining a balanced life and eating plan also.
Peace.

I think you asked the question what is considered overweight? Tastee you probably have good metabolism and some people dont have that. So that means they have to work hard at maintaining there weight. I know I do. I can look at food and I gain five pounds. But I exercise and try not to eat to much. I found that I can eat some junk food, but I just have to exercise and thats just a fact for me. I cant get mad with people I just have to do it. Everyone is different but some people just dont try and they give up.

First of all let me address this reply from you. I have no idea why you are saying Im unrealistic and immature.
I know that I am blessed to have my health and be physically fit. I do not however as I stated before discriminate against people who are overweight. I do not have any children I am not married and I dont intend to have children out of wedlock. I do not consider myself immature although I may be young, I do have a education and the people I associate myself with are not regarded as some misfits in society. I do happen to associate with people who are responsible individuals.
My parents are not fat and if genetics play any part in determining what I will look like when Im 40 and after having three children. Well I hope I look like my mom she weighs 125 pds and is 41 years old. She exercises everyday takes water exercise and is very active. My dad plays ball and plays golf and they both do not overeat. So I think that I will follow both of them and keep my weight maintained. If I should become overweight after childbearing I would try to go on a diet and keep exercising to loose the weight.
I am sorry that you have a problem with your weight. But it is no reason to get offensive with me about it. Because you did ask the question about your weight. If you are a christian lady then you should be praying and asking God to help you with your need, instead of getting hostile and angry at someone who tells you the truth. Show me the word of God and I will pay close attention.
I have attended one of the top Black Universities in the United States. I belong to Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Caribbean Student Association, Ambassadors for Christ. I dont think it is really that relevant, but since you want to call me immature. I thought that I would let you know alittle bit about me. God Bless you

Because of what the media portrays..They think that a woman is beautiful if she is between 110-120 lbs, women see, hear and read this and think it is true..which in my point of view is NOT!..Im 140lbs, but i look like 120. I wish i could gain some more wieght..
Honestly, i think women should be 'plump' so to speak. They SHOULD have meat on their bones!. Voluptuous looking, not looking like a TWIG!.
So that;s my 55cents on that one!

But they do find fault with people who are slim to justify why they are carry around those pounds.Since YOu seem offended by what I said and giving me a long list of your history of which I didn't need to know and adding extra things about your education adn so on was irrelevant. You are laughing at that, I think the whole thing is tasteless when you have so many grammatical mistakes and then you use a word that doesn't exist.
The word (requote) is not a word, unless you meant requite. But I don't think so, maybe you might have used (reiterate) meaning to state over again. It's quite clear to me that you made yourself look quite foolish, in not thoroughly reading the post. Your words were inconsequential- meaning having no significance. You don't even see that you have a problem, so that is probably why you wrote what you did. Like Tastee said, keep praying to God and he will help with your needs. Again, God Bless You.
