Income Taxes

Are you preparing to do your income taxes and do you expect to get a refund this year? The deadline as you know is April 15, 2005, so don't be late. :icon_mrgr
Do you file your taxes early or wait so that you can get your return back in May.

(For all other people not living in the U.S.)- Do you file taxes, like we do in the U.S.? How does your system work in your country?

Im just curious to know what you guys do during the tax time. :)

Your employer files your income tax, really? :eusa_thin Our employers take out a percent of our wages for Federal and State taxes to be with held during the year. At the end of the year we File a income tax return, in which we put down how much was withheld for both state and Federal. Of course these are two separate forms, you have to fill out. In doing that, we can itemize deductions for education, pensions, etc, ect. and see if we can get a return for the year.

It's interesting that your employers does this.

Perhaps I should explain.

We have a system here in Jamaica called PAYE (pay as you earn) where our Income tax (called PAYE) along with National Insurance, National Housing Trust and Education Tax are all deducted before we get our pay by the Employer. Of course they have their amounts to pay which more or less match our deductions. Our Employers pay the Government the collected amounts monthly and any balance due for the Calendar Year is paid 15th January. :)

Okay, thanks for the insight. You do receive some type of statement that tells you about your earnings for that year? I can't remember how this worked in Trinidad for my parents. I know they had some type of CWU(a union) in the hotels and places. I didn't do anything much, just some shop work and sitter work. I have had all of my best positions in the U.S. since I came here.

Oh I Will file them in a few more weeks and then see what comes up then.
No... I dont have a computer right now at home. I had some problems with it and I thought they were fixed but it look like it still not working properly. I using someone else computer sometime to get Online. We are so back logged at work, that I can't use my computer there. I sharing my office with a student intern right now. If I get a chance I look Online to see what is up, but most times is nothing going on here so far.

Are you buying another computer Pondadat. If so you should check out Wal-mart they are having a sale. I have a computer I bought from there and it works fine. You might try there or Best buy as well.

Walmart has some Linux computers going cheap. I'm thinking of getting my first laptop from them next time I'm in the US, perhaps in July or September.
