Alright since I started the post here is my best book ever written. Dune, written by Frank Herbert.
"Here is the novel that will be forever considered a triumph of the imagination. Set on the desert planet Arrakis, DUNE is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Muad’Dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family—and would bring to fruition humankind’s most ancient and unattainable dream. A stunning blend of adventure and mysticism, environmentalism and politics, DUNE formed the basis of what is undoubtedly the grandest epic in science fiction."
Need I say more. Of course lord of the rings is good but you peeps need to check the book out.

Dune, written by Frank Herbert.
Dune is some serious SCi-Fi. Thats a must read! It's so similar to the Matrix it's not funny. I think the Wachowski Brothers pulled off a copy of Dune still.
Granted I have not read book but I watched the mini-series on SCI-FI and it blew me away.
I really should read the book though.

good list Xeno. I have read most of those books except. However the book that catches my eye in that list is the Bourne Identity. I thought I was the only one that loved that book. It was well written but as most trilogies go it got weak with the other two books.

Yeah FLEX those Brothers really to a page out of Dune. You know what's so fascinating about that book the fact that every detail in that book is original. It's not something from the past but every detail was from the writers imagination and the society, the moral standards you name it. It was wonderful.
I have never read a book that had so much originality.

Hardy Boys, Hardy Boys Casefiles have got to be the best ever. I used to read these books by the dozens, like maybe 2-3 a day. I would go days without seeing sunlight. All I would do was read all day.
The count of Monte Cristo was also extremely good. I once read a Black Lace novel upon the request of a female, Damn that novel was interesting. The Art of Deception is a must have for a techie.

Never read Dune, but the Lord of The Rings Series (including The Hobbit) is a must-read for anyone into scifi. My favourite Sci-fi books:
Lord of The Rings Series - JRR Tolkein
1984 - George Orwell
The I, Robot Series - Isaac Asimov
Foundation Trilogy - Isaac Asimov
The Mars Chronicles - Ray Bradbury
The Andromeda Strain
