Tell us of a cooking disaster you have encountered or heard of.

Well dis is a actual disaster... dat happened to me... well two disasters. Smaller one first. I put some food in the microwave with a piece of foil under the food... (accident not on purpose) not a big piece... well it was a big enough piece. Anyway the food and the microwave blew up.
Next accident one day i was cooking (dont remember wat) but watever it was boiled over and touch the hot plate (electric stove) and fire started. had to shut off all electricity in the house and wet up the oven and stuff... nothing was destroyed though the oven still works

Yow skillachi, when nastro was asking for cooking disasters I'm sure that he expected to read things like "I put too much salt in the stew peas" not "I burned down my house" ;)

Well I know of a friend grown woman, who was frying something, left it on the stove and it cause a fire in the kitchen, burnt up the whole stove, post and kitchen. Sprinklers came on flood out her house and the neighbors. Not good. :(
My own personal experience.....hmmmmm let me think.
1. I was young didn't know how to cook, my mother told me to cut up chicken, I don't know how so I start cutting at random. I got some good beating that night.
2. She told me to cut up cabbage and season it up. I still didn't know I was young. So I cut it up and decided to make the cabbage red, put the red season on it after she told me not to. She was so upset trying to wash the cabbage out she just throw the whole cabbage in my face in the kitchen. My share of the dinner that was in my face that day.
Yes I learnt how to cook the hard way.

Someone I know tried to heat up some fried dumplings in the microwave oven. When they came out, they were so tough, they could have been used as rocks in a slingshot to kill Goliath :icon_mrgr
