hmmm if this continues hmmm you guys know what will happen....
Miss Ex I don't necessarily want to tell you not to express your views but pls be mindful of the way in which it is done. Attacking other people and their country of origin I consider harassment pls desist from doing such. State you're point maturely and refrain from the cussing and ludicrous behaviour I saw above.

    Shall we continue.

At least, Miss Ex thanx cuz you kept the debate quite lively even though what you are saying cannot be taken seriously unfortunately. And it's rather sad for the whole show you're trying to provide.

sigh.... ok, well first of all I'm St.Lucian [there really needs to be more of us on here] and I'll do my best to answer this question from a st.lucian perspective. In my opinion, st. lucians are one of the most friendliest people you will meet in the caribbean. whether you from jamaica or Iraq, once you cool with us and we like you personally, then you have no problems. that being said, we do tend to hold some stereo-types to certain groups of people....lol. when I asked about jamaicans, i got two different views. most young people basically had no view on jamaicans, like it was a grey area, and only after some thought, they would say general stuff like jamaicans are funny, patriotic or good. older folks, to me would Generally classify them as a bad influence, period. like if you have too many jamaicans living on one street, it would eventually turn into the gaza strip..lol. you will also get that view especially from people who have met jamaicans [like my neighbor] who says y'all like to put down the smaller islands... which after reading MISSEX's comments, holds some truth... anyways, hope this helps. if u have questions ask, if you have hate..stay in our corner.

Well Rasheda, I agree with you .... and I'm Jamaican. In general we're a good people, but the few bad ones can be really bad. So bad that their actions negatively affect the impression that others have on us. Think of it, when you ask non-Jamaicans about Jamaica the first thing they think of is Bob Marley and that's good. But shortly after that they talk about weed smoking shottas and start referring to various bad examples that they've had or heard about Jamaicans. It's the last impression that lasts. We gotta change the image.

I agree, Chris, but how do you weed out the bad apples? How do you change the image? The 'bad man' mentality is in-built into our culture and has it's roots in gangs, ghettos and corrupt officials.

Weeding out starts with the smallest of crimes ... littering, loitering, noise pollution, dances without permits, etc. Start showing the there's zero tolerance to even the smallest of crimes.
